    Default Glassing a vangaurd?

Hey everyone, i have a flex 5 loaded vanguard that is straight up too flexy for me. Its fun and all but when i pump i almost always bottom out. Would it be possible to throw a layer of glass on the bottom to stiffen it up? would that ruin the board? the board was free so thats why i didnt get a flex2 or 3 in the first place

id just try and trade the flex 5 for somehting else like a flex 4 vanguards are made to be awersome outta the shop, i wouldnt wanna risk messing up such a sickk board. try to trade it for somehting then resort to glassing and craziness. thats whut id do.

it wont ruin the board, and it will stiffen it, assuming you do things correctly. there are a lot of threads here about fiberglassing boards, so its pretty easy to get it right. you may want to add two layers to the bottom.

If you want to stiffen it up, get some triaxial glass, or unidirectional s glass. Both are available from fiberglasssupply.com.

The board may be so flexy that the fiberglass will rip free, as it is much stiffer than the wood.

Try some sliptape. It's only about ten bucks, and it'll stiffen that board up pretty good. I have used it to stiffen up a Loaded for a friend. The stuff's pretty sweet!

You could remount the trucks, moving them both in by 1". This is what I did with my vanguard, and it not only stiffened the board but it also gave a functional nose/tail, plus it only takes like 5 minutes to do.
