building one's own board looks like a fun and rewarding process, and i'd really like to try to build my own. i'd like to build a longboard for cruising and maybe dancing (44"+) with minimal flex. unfortunately, i don't have any of the supplies on hand (glue, clamps or screws, wood, etc), so i would have to buy everything before i begin. i don't have a problem with spending all the money, but i would just like to know how difficult the process is. i've read all the instructions on toothless' site, but i would just like to about anything that could go wrong.

    thanks

ps. will a jigsaw work for cutting out the board, or do i need a bandsaw? will a powersander smooth out the edges, or do i need a router?

a jigsaw works fine if you take your time. to build your first you can use minimal tools, jigsaw, drill, file, and sandpaper. if you want to test your shaping skills you can order [$18] a flat blank from eastbilt and try that out.

Its dead easy. It gets harder the more complex you get, but a simple board is simple to build and this forum is a great resource.
