those are some sick looking trucks and I bet they give the board a super awesome carvy feel

Re: retro looking board (100% fiberglass) + selfmade trucks (manually milled) for LDP
wow, thats really cool! i like the way the sun shines through the deck. oldschool boards are just too much fun, you've gotta let us know how it performs.
nice looking trucks too, though the angles seem really low to me. i mean, the angles are lower than most downhill trucks... how do they perform?

Re: retro looking board (100% fiberglass) + selfmade trucks (manually milled) for LDP
Sorry guys, asked my brother, if i remember the measurements correctly and had to correct them afterwards (from 35 to 38 and from 28 to 30). Did remember it wrong.
The truck-angle is anyhow really flat, but depending on the wheelbase you don't need such a steep angle. We discussed a lot about which angle to use and my brother decided to use those ones. I told him to use steeper angles, but he made a good decision, because the board is really agile and you can pump it really easy. Mercifully he didn't listen to me.
I tested it underhanded ( don't tell my brother !!) two days ago with some ZigZags on it to the office and back (complete 5 km, flat) and it was definitively a better ride than on my rayne timeline, which i was sure that it was a good pumper. It was the first time, that i could place my front-foot over the front truck and i was able to gain more speed with less power. The flex made it also more comfortable than the stiffer timeline.
I didn't tested it to it's limit, this will be done as soon as possible on the Vulkanradweg, a 35km ride with a 2% descent and some parts where you should pump for a few km. Then we will see, if the trucks will resist the LDP-stress.

Amazing board!!
What setup are you using to make the trucks? What machine?

Re: retro looking board (100% fiberglass) + selfmade trucks (manually milled) for LDP
Props to ya! But is the kingpin swapable. If you milled it all from a block of metal and it just so happens to bend or snap thats going to suck because the whole truck will be useless

Re: retro looking board (100% fiberglass) + selfmade trucks (manually milled) for LDP
Thanks for the props guys. All the props are going to my brother and not to me. I only sponsored the wheels to this project.
No problem with the Kingpin, he is swappable. It's a 10mm kingpin to fit the 10mm spherical bearing with a inch-threat to fit "normal" skate hardware. The bushings sit very tight on it.
When he's bend or broken, we can easily cut the kingpin-head with the mill to push it out of the baseplate.
The trucks were made with a small industrial mill, the Optimum OPTI BF20L VARIO. The mill itself is not that expensive, but all the cutter kits, circular dividing table (rotary table), vice, parallel spacer kit, clamping tool kit and all the special tools like a boring head are a pain in the ass. Your pocked will definitely slim down.
In the winter time, my brother will convert the mill to a cnc mill.
Sorry pavedwave, never tried flexdex and i think i don't have the chance to do it. Not available in any German longboardshop. (pm me for trades )
