Bamboosk8 - Bamboo Skateboards and Decks
I noticed this web site says the sell bamboo veneers specifically for skateboards. I sent them an email and this was their response:
> Yes, we have veneers – we sell them in boxes of 60…. Price is around $3.50/veneer.
> They are 10x40… vertical laminates.
>
> Thanks,

So, that sounds a little short for a longboard, but not uncommon. I'm thinking about getting a box to check them out. I'm in Vermont, so if anyone nearby is interested in sharing, let me know. Also, if anyone has used these or plans on using them, tell me what you think! Thanks.

Re: Wood suppliers
Just found this on the FAQ page:
> Bamboo Veneers (10”x40” & 10”x34”, .22mm, natural, vertical)
But I think the .22mm is a typo because this is on the Decks page:
> 100%, 3 and 4 ply bamboo, 10mm thick
2.2mm is a more likely veneer thickness.

Re: Wood suppliers
2.2 mm is a little over 1/12 in. I was originally thinking low-carbon local-pickup as far as sharing and caring went. Shipping veneers can be a real pain. I travel a fair bit around New England during ski season though, so I'm flexible.

I used Plywood Company of Fort Worth while I was there... great prices, great stock selection, but no cutting allowed on site, so you have to be able to fit whatever you buy in your car without cutting it.
I'm still looking for a place close by in central Jersey, I'll update when I find one. Edison Millwork and True Value offered to order me some, but I haven't gotten prices yet.
I went to that place, It about 20 minutes from my house. They have 5x5 Baltic Birch for 20 bucks. I was wonder if that is a good deal?

Re: Wood suppliers
Amazon all the way! Cheap, fast shipping, good policies, and you can trust them. Just search the wood you want (ex. Baltic Birch) and choose a good wood. Most of them are grade B woods.

I know this is about a year late, but I found some BB at Florida Southern Plywood in Jacksonville.: Florida Southern Plywood Corporation
I don't know if they have the size you need. I was looking for 1/2 inch for a balance board, and I ran across this site looking for some building tips.
5x5 1/2 inch was about 36.00.

Unless you need pallets of the stuff, rotary cut maple for skateboards = Summit or Roarockit
If anyone knows any different, speak-up.

Re: Wood suppliers
are the 4'x4' sheets of birch from lowes unacceptable? I've used it before seemed to work alright. all the inner plys appear to be birch and not filler too. i think the sheet i got was like 3/16" they also have maple there too that didn't look to bad. ppl have told me the 4x4 sheets are made in china and aren't as strong due to more pockets in the inner plys but i've plunged a router into a board for an inlay and i found no gaps...

Re: Wood suppliers
I'm looking for some good suppliers in Central PA, near Altoona. I saw what Roarkit was offering and I was wondering if any of you knew who supplied his wood because that's what I need.
