    Default Sylvia's Board.

    Freehand wood burn.
    Burning took 7 hours.
    Complete: 10 hours.

Its all line art with shading at the bottom for the dirt. I also burned in the frame of the board to tie in everything. Natural Stain. I did a painting like this once, with just the interlocked hands and wrists, but i introduced the roots and branches to resemble strength. The strength that nature holds over us and what we gain from it, like the gift of a sweet board for a fun ride.

    It rides really smooth.

    Teddy,
Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to post a couple showing some of the curves. I couldn't show off the graphics while showing how curvy this board really is.

Sorry for the small pictures. Still trying to get the hang of this.

    The Great Fish

This is all hand painted, freehanded using acrylic paints on a blank 49x11" Eastbilt deck, that I first primed with PVA size. I started out by drawing the basic image on with chalk, then painted those lines, wiping off the chalk as I went. The rest was painted via many layers of mixed black, combined with mediums to make an acrylic glaze, and just a touch of translucent white for a few of the highlights. The layering gives it nice depth and richness.

The fish is inspired by the Coelacanth (aka "the living fossil"), and the landscape is taken from the geography of Guilin, China.

For any art geeks out there, the black color is mixed using carbon black (Golden brand), phthalocyanine green (Liqutex brand), and quinacridone red (Golden brand). The white was zinc whit (also Golden brand). The mediums I mixed with were Golden Gac 100 and Golden Fluid Matte Meduim.

I have photos of the whole process as I went along. The final photos are courtesy anotherartgeek, and here they are... I'll just let the painting speak for itself now Enjoy!

I'm very interested to know how exactly you did that to your wheels, it looks pretty damn good.

I desired to give the finished product a totally custom look. I obtained some 60 mm 81 a Retro Bertz by Abec 11. Using Rit dye and hot glue, I created custom dyed wheels that remind me of swirling blood and fire. I hope to equip with black Bennett Vector 5s and 1/8th inch shock pads.

Thank you for reading my long-winded description. Any questions or comments are welcome. This is my first artistic endeavor in about 10 years, and now I find myself excited to do more.[/QUOTE]

Hi everyone, I have been enjoying the entries so far and have finally completed my graphic. The board was cut and assembled a while ago and has been sitting around blank until I heard about the contest. I sketched a robot with an MPC on his chest hitting the buttons with one arm and blasting an old boom box in the other. I scanned the sketch into photoshop and start painting over it using my Wacom tablet and pen. Once the design was desirable I held the prints over my hot stove to age the paper and mute the colors to match the rough stain. Then I cut out all the pieces carefully with a small blade and mounted them on the deck. Finally the clear coat...enjoy!

The tag in the cloud says Abstract Grey (my graphic design title for the longboard scene) and the logo is on the bottom of his foot.

    The tablet

The graphic before the burning process, much more vivid colors

First off, all the entries so far are awesome, there are some serious artists on here. So here is my entry... I started with I conditioned the bottom of the deck and applied 3 coats of harvest gold and rustic orange stain to get the background fade. The silhoutted branches and bird were painted on with mars black acrylic, its got a tiny touch of purple in it, I barely notice it.Then II used a satin polyurethane over the whole board, it keeps the black almost flat but makes the stained wood pop a little more. My crail baseplates were silver so i sprayed them flat black and paired it up with some black hawgs. I will post a few more detail pics tommorow after my camera finishes charging.

    Thomas,
I have received many questions about the wheels. It is really very simple to do. Get some light colored wheels. Scrub the paint off them with an SOS pad. Draw designs on them with a hot glue gun. Put RIT dye in hot water. Add the wheels to said mixture. Stir 'em around a little. Check the color every 15 minutes or so. When they are dark enough for you, pull them out. Rinse them under cold water, and the glue will become brittle and you can easily just rub the glue off. The wheels will have the original color under where you applied the glue. That is really all there is to it. Very simple, and fun.

Rodgon, I am a little nervous to see what you have in store for us after I looked at your graphics design webpage. You are a serious artist! Be gentle on us amateurs.

Here is my entry, This board was supposed to have been done last xmas for my girlfriend. However due to lack of time and money i could not done that last december. Since the graphic contest went up, it was a perfect match to get this board done.

I basically use Loki's methods of painting the board, i also use Createx Auto-Air Colours.

Hope you guys like the pictures.

I will soon post a video as soon as it finishes uploading, for you guys see the metal flakes better. Yes, i also like the metal flakes in big quantity like Loki.

    CLEAR COOOOOOOOOOAT!!!!!

by the way, i will make another video tomorrow wit a better camera, because i uploaded the video on youtube, but i realized that the quality of the video image was really rubbish, so i will borrow a good camera tomorrow and i will take other shoots from the board with the trucks on!!! Paris with some pink bigzigs, its killer!!!!

I have already shown the shoots on how i cut the designs out, dont know if that was enough, but i kept forgetting to make pics of the progress, hope this will be enough for the contest!
