Default im new to board building and have a few questions

So here is the steps as i know it
    1. sketch a design.
    2. cut
    3. perfect
    4. bring it home and bend it (i put like a small brick in the middle of it then 2 huge concrete bricks on either side)
    5. drill holes
    6. ride

Do i need to put some kinda of coat over the board? Whats the easiest way to bend the board?

what length board and thickness would i need for a person of about 250?

it's just a low tech way of clamping two sheets together.
It can allow for camber or rocker, which you can't get from just cutting out a flat sheet.
If you read toothless further he goes on to demonstrate some methods of creating concave.
