    So how does he go about putting the fabric under the clear grip?

    epoxy, polycrylic, ? Get testing.

    Half the fun of building IMO is learning from trial and error experience. Coming up with my own ideas and thoughts on what might work and figuring out how I can do something.

    though a vacuum bag helps provide a uniform bond it's just cloth, put the resin on right and it will bond just fine...it works on surfboards and they aren't vac bagged

    I've just smacked a fatty layer of polycrylic and then smacked on the fabric and put another fatty layer down and it worked great

    Here's how you do it. It works best with a board with fiberglass on it, but really, just treat the cosmetic fabric like a sheet of fiberglass fabric. Wet it out with resin, (epoxy) let it dry. Done.

    What he said. I just built a board where I did this and it turned out fine. I'll post pics when I've got the top of the board done.

    ife done it a few times a long time ago (still use it now sometimes) just use layup method like you do with glass fibre
