    Default Help!

I know this isnt really like "board building" but it has to do the painting process. I would like to repaint my Ian Comishin but im not sure waht to do... I want to do smack down the center one side Black and the other side White. Then i want to get some neon colors like blue, green, orange, and pick two of those and splatter it onto the Black and White. then i want to put on a veneer that will protect the paint from scratches. Could i be able to do this? Any Other ways people would suggest to paint this? Cause i could do other stuff...

    Thanks

BTW im going to put this in resources and Answers cause i dunno if people want to answer it here.
ognalawu- thats what you think but once you get on it, i think you'll find its alot harder to "pop" it than it sounds
    Delta-That is what she said.

Sounds like board building to me!

By "veneer" I assume you mean a clear coat, like varnish/epoxy etc? People talking about veneers are usually talking about wood around here

Basic idea for painting, strip it down to the wood with sandpaper, or at least pretty close. It's got to be nice and flat and sanded so the paint will stick. You don't want any old gloss flakes lying around.

Then you're probably looking at about 3 - 4 coats of paint depending on what you're using. I'm not sure what patterns you want to do, but usually just put some tape (or newspaper + tape for larger areas) on the bits you don't want painted, then paint the bits you do want painted. Repeat till it's all painted!

Clear coating depends on your preference really. I like a layer of epoxy before varnish, most people just stick with somewhere around 5 - 10 coats of varnish. Lay down the varnish, wait till it dries, smooth it down with a fine sandpaper, repeat.

There should be lots more stuff around, have a search.

agreed! heres a tip....depending on what paint ur using, you might need to paint more coats of white than u intended to get it to that opaque white that i think ur trying to achieve. you can use varnish, but i prefer waterbased polycrylic (you wont pass out from the fumes...unless ur into that sorta thing....)
"so i see u lookin at me lookin at u...i hope u like ridin the wood as much as i do" LMAO, some things never get old.

Ah, don't listen to him. I sleep, work and build boards in the same university room. Make sure you have a window open, preferably do it just before you go to sleep and if you get a headache, hit some aspirin pretty hard. It's never affected me negatively!

If it's literally taking forever, you may be using too fine a grit of sand-paper.. Check the grit, and if it's not a fairly low number - your using too fine of paper, and you aren't removing much. You can jump to an electric sander, just be more careful with that, as you'll start going through layers much, much faster.
I need a new idea for a sig.

ethan sanding down does does take a hell of a long time, just keep at it. One way to increase the process is to start with using like 60 grit sandpaper, and then after the majority of the graphics is off, use 80, and then use a finer sandpaper until it is smooth. To protect it i would either use a couple coats of acrylic clear coat spray paint, or see if trevor will lay on a layer of fiberglass on there for you. I would go with fiberglass, as it would protect it great with the epoxy and it will make the board last longer and make it stiffer

When i stripped my evo i used a belt sander took about fifteen minutes. I would defiantly recommend getting ahold of one somehow.
