I saw something about people making foam insulation out of soybeans once. I guess it was bound to happen. It's pretty cool that they can do that I think.

Nice Gary1 My only concern is if it is actually a double bladed sword. Just as corn/grain alcohol used as an additive to gasoline, is taking farmland for food , to create other product. I wonder how many foam blanks can be made from an acre of soy plants? hmmmm???

Yes, we dont have enough corn, soy or water. email the dude and ask him. Its a good question.

agreed dave... i really think food should be used for food... if this stuff continues the greeners will succeed in wiping out the human civilization for the plague that they think we are..

but if it were cheaper and better foam, id love to try it

Corn is actually a HUGE surplus in the US, and is processed, then used in EVERYTHING we eat. A standard McDonald's meal was analyzed and found to be made of like 60% of materials that could be linked back to corn. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I learned in a class last year. Also, the majority of the corn grown nowadays is not edible UNTIL you process it. =\

foam (surfboard foam that is) is too small of a market to affect food prices i would think. gasoline on the other hand is another story

Tomahawk, you're missing my point. I'm not only speaking of prices, but if it's truly a green product if it takes farmland(That was once woodland) to create this product. And spikedfro, yes the USofA does have a surplus of corn, but those days are numbered by the consumption increases as we build more methanol plants. And as we built up the farming acreage from days gone by, we took away forests and pastures. Now our woodlands are growing depleted, and our livestock is penned and forced to be raised in less than desireable conditions. I'm just saying, all too often we rob Paul to pay Peter, and end up dicking ourselves... But that's what we do best!
