Summer Board Building Contest Poll '08

Here it is the poll for the voting on what you think is the best built board.
Please try to be objective and vote for the board, the technique and relative skill of the builder and not just on the builder himself/herself.

I want to see clean voting. If I think someone is stuffing the ballot or smell conspiracy I'll call the vote moot and will call up a panel of judges and WE will decide the winner and throw out the vote.

This poll will run for 8 days. At the end of that time, the poll closes and the builder with the most votes wins.
This contest is purely for fun. No promise of prizes or any such compensations have been or are being made. This is just for fun and bragging rights. Hope you had fun and have a nice board to show for it.

So many good builds and every one offers some nice details. On the end I had to choose between three boards on my short list.
xploads because of his spontaneous alterations and glossy finish
absorbentpigs because of a fashionable, but nevertheless functional looking deck
bobys (which i voted) because of his presented craftsmanship, which is outstanding for a 16 year old.

My brother and I have build a woody-luge for the this years IGSA races in Europe and I thought, that I could enter it in this contest, but was to short in time and missed the deadline of the entry-thread. Hopefully I have the time to build something for the composite contest (crazy, crazy ideas are floating around in my head).

Man, it was really hard to choose. All these boards are really nice; most look like they were built by professionals, right down to the graphics and logos. If I saw these in my local shop there's no way that I'd think that they were built in someone's garage. Great work everybody!

But, since I could only vote for one, absorbantpig gets it, for no better reason than that I just liked the total package a tiny bit better than the others.

All levels of work here, from the guys that could be selling to the guys just starting out, all of them where real decent. Keep it up.

It has been cool to be part of a really competiive competition, well done every one who could be bothered, bring on the composite challange, see if we can get some of you hard wood guys in to fibrgelass.

Special well done to tomawack thought yours was very nice, then there was absorbantpig's entry, texalium looks fantastic, would you share how easy or hard it is to work with. and also boby, yuor hard wood's are amazing, i knew this wo uld be a right treat, sugar boards aref antastic, well done, cant wait for the enxt comp to see what you bring.

yeah, again, everyone did phenomenal work, there wasnt one board in the contest that was bad, but there were def a few that were outstanding. Bob, you got my vote, i loved that board from the second i saw it! the unique and functional dual lam core, excellent composite work, a great attention to detail, and a very classy yet tech looking finish made for what i feel is the best overall board in the contest. Also, the fact that you are cranking out stuff like that at the age of 16 is amazing, and definitely shows a great deal of skill, pride, and intelligence.

again, congrats to everyone, definitely one of the best contest ive seen on here, you should all be proud of the great work!

I completely agree, this contest has pulled out all stops. There are some great builds. 'absorbentpig' you build is amazing. What sort of release film have you used there. It looks to me like a perf, but I'm not sure. Real nice bro. EXPLOAD, brilliant. Makes me want to have a go with some carbon. Love the logo!

And all the others, it would be a huge list. Awesome builds. Great to see heaps of builders giving it a go.

I didnt know about this composite build off. Sounds intresting. I'm working on a new design, which I'll probably build during the time frame. What defines a composite? Use of several differnt materials?

I cant wait to get some more boards built!

That's a sweet board, I'm building one like it right now. But it is nowhere near as good as yours. Hopefully I can finish before I have to go back to college. But of course I'll have better tools there.

By composites theyre talking about carbon, glass, texalium, kevlar etc, possibly paired with the likes of foam etc.
