    Default Dropped, Dewedged Original.

Ever since Arcane's two recent threads, put up or shut up and the Freestyle build contest, I've had some interesting ideas or finally worked some things out. Thanks again for elevating everyone's creativity.

Here is another concept from the Zeerzameen lab. It is somewhere between innovative and preposterous. I have always liked the unique ride of the Original trucks, however, I have found the angle difficult to handle on the back truck. It is easily compensated by dewedging. This does raise the truck quite a bit. Risers do give more leverage on turns and places your weight more directly over the inside wheels, both good for traction and control, but after a nice spill trying to foot-break at about 15-20 MPH, I sought another solution.

I have tried built-in dewedging before on a drop through http://www.silverfishlongboarding.co...t-wedging.html. I figured, it should work for these babies. Straight drop-through of course would not work, but dewedging the drop-through works beautifully. Believe me, it is solid, easy, and lowers the angle from 40 to about 15 degrees or so. It should work for most drop through mounts with a few simple modifications. The extra cut-outs for the side stabilizing strut on the Randalls should be expanded a bit. Place the truck through as shown, screw the rear truck holes in, then drill two new wood holes through the "new school" truck holes at angle as shown. Voila. I'd like to try back dewedged and front/back dewedged setups.

That actually looks somewhat downhill-able. Very interesting.

Wedge-through? Tip-through? I think you need a new name for that.

I suppose you could also always toss some washers under the two back mounting screws on the drop through with the trucks mounted normal drop through to get some angle on it, probably not as much angle and will lower it more, but just be more generous with the wheel wells. Just a suggestion.8)

I was working that same idea out in my head too, thinking about my first build for the upcomming build-off.

Thankyou for the suggestion. However, these trucks simply cannot be dropped through in the conventional fasion. The hanger will always bite into the deck. Furthermore, if one were to drop through, placing washers under the back would wedge it more, angling the truck to turn more, not less.

I could be missing your point entirely. If so, excuse my lack of understanding.

Thank you all for the responses. I would like some feed back from some that are actually willing to try this and test it. Dewedging both the front and back is intriguing for a high speed deck. I would like to try it on a vey short wheel base deck, kind of like riding a mini with 35 degree randals, both front and back.
