Default is there such thing as to much pressure?

im buildind a dropthrough speedboard out of 3 1/4 inch sheets of plywood. i was going to use a car as a means to press the sheets together in a jig, but i didn't know if that would be to much pressure.

if its to much then whats the max amount or pressure i should use?

The car should be fine, Other people have done it too, and it seems to work. There is such a thing as too much pressure because if you do put too much it will press the glue to thin.

yup built a snowboard that way in the late 80s glue was too hot and there was too much pressure....glue blew out ballisticly and the board nearly pealed apart when it was flexxed

True, especially if concentrated in one area. Besides the glue, you can crush the wood in certain circumstances.

i beleive landyachts uses a 16 tonne press, so unless your car is a bus, you should be ok. make sur ethe pressure is even somehow, i have definitly seen car presses work before.

I have seen a 45 ton press used on skate decks, they were doing I think 7 at one time. As Cranks said, even pressure is the key. What ultimately will determine the ideal pressure is a combination of what wood you are using and what the glue manufacturer recommends.

Titebond 3 for example suggests 175-250 psi for high density hard woods.
