my first custom longboard is finished!......

Woohoo! Took my first custom board for her maiden voyage today around the beach in Santa Monica and Venice. I designed the board and had it crafted by the dudes at Soul Ryde. I've dubbed it the "Nautilus 40" - because of the nautilus shell graphic and the length.

I'm very stoked on this deck. First skateboard that I completely designed from scratch.

I'm totally stoked on it. Rides just as I hoped it would.

Any of you who may be thinking about a Soul Ryde, they are totally killer. You should definitely buy one.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I'm proud of the design. I designed the exact shape for very specific reasons and I've never seen any other decks shaped exactly like it. The shape was influenced by the Longboard Larry Komodo and the Earthwing Supercharger, but it is different from those decks too.

Well, again, to be clear, I did NOT build the board - I designed it; I created the shape; I invented the graphics. But the guys at Soul Ryde are the ones who actually built it. They did an amazing job, and I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking I built it myself. I am the designer - they were the craftsmen. In answer to your question, they use a laser to engrave the graphics into the board.
