I can't answer your question but I can help you out. This part of the forum, and and this thread specifically is about the construction of decks not the assembly of parts to make up a complete.

If you build your press using a foam mold you can cut the foam any way you want, making it bend the ply wood to create a kicktail would be really easy.

actually you can you can do multi colored if you want. just use tape. any kind should do, i would use maybe 3 kinds because of width. you could use duct tape for wide parts, painters tape for thin parts, and what ever kind of tape you like its up to you. pm me if you want to know how to do many colors.

also im makin it with hudge wheel cut-out things (im sure theres a name for them) trying or thinkin about puting some 75a 97mm fly wheels on
now to my question. with limoted tools, how on earth do you make the patern or that and cut out a drop through mounting holes. if im lucky i might be able to get my hands on a router, i might be able to borrow one. right now im limited to a bunch of saws and a power drill with a hole lot of shafty thingys

no, costal b.c... canada

thank goodness for edit, did you know... if you click the right buttons space sends your message to...

wow you asking for a lot ok where do i start. to do a drop deck you will need to make a foam mold. there is a video on here somewhere on foam mold presses. as for the drop thru goes you will need a jigsaw and a big drill bit. not to big or you will mess up the deck. so drill a hole in the area to be cut out, then put the jigsaw blade inside and cut around an outlined area to be fitted to trucks. most of the major companies have a template that will fit perfectly ton the trucks you have. now to angle? deangle like the Chinook it will explain that in the foam mold video. as for the main deck you will need a router, a table saw or circular saw, and a jig saw. you will cut the plywood in to a big plank bidder then the deck itself and then glue the sheets together with the best side facing down and glue with a strong adhesive, aka titebond 3, then after the directions on the bottle say it is dry take it out of the press and cut out your shape. as pre drawn and put on the board before glued and pressed.
another method or two is posted on this very helpful website www. toothless.tk

How do you judge when enough pressure is enough? i just built my first press (you can see it in the post your press pics) and i have no idea how much pressure should be applied to work accurately

Re: Library of Board-Building Tips, Resources & Ideas
Im going to build a big board, something very similar to the B-ride. The landyachtz website says that it is 13 plys, but i was wondering how big those plys are, or what size ply is good for a board like this?
And my second question: The b-ride is 57.2" long and has a wheelbase of 38.5", if i made it around 60" would i have to make the wheelbase 3 inches bigger to?

That's a great way to get attention. but there are other ways as well, you know....
anyway: I really don't know what you mean here... if you have a press, you adjust it until it meets your needs (in case you're doing camber/concave). if it's just a flat press, adjust it until you can't go any further ( don't you worry, you won't make your sheet any thinner by applying pressure)... so, when you think it's enough, tighten it just a little bit more.
Re: Library of Board-Building Tips, Resources & Ideas
please excuse this elementary question. I've been reading everything I can for the past hour and after a full day of class, further reading is not something i want to do at this point.
my question is this: for using a vac bag to do fiberglass, how do i make sure that the epoxy resin does not bond to the bag? do i wrap the board with some sort of fabric? spray some sort of anti adhesive on the bag? will the bag's plastic simply not bond?
i'm going to be building a deck with some glass in a month or two, so i'm trying to learn as much about it as i can right now, that way i can buy all my materials and equipment in an educated manner.
thanks!

epoxy doesnt stick to the bag.
straight up it will dry in the bag. So if the cloth on the top or bottom you need some breather clothe and something to absorb the excesss epoxy.
i recomend just putting the layer of clothe inside the plys so you dont need to worry about breather and such. Its a good way to start.
Re: Library of Board-Building Tips, Resources & Ideas
what, then, would be a good material to use to absorb the excess epoxy? do i just wrap the whole board in this cloth before putting it in the bag?
i'm also wondering, is it really that much harder to work with carbon fiber than fiberglass? from what i've read it seems that you just have to be a bit more gentle with it, am I right?

Hey, I am using rhino (design program) and I plan to use a CNC to cut out my design. The only thing I am having trouble with is designing the Drop Through Truck holes. Can anyone help me out please?

What is the best thickness of wood to buy? I am not shure what the thickness of the birch to use. I know 1/8 in. is to thick just by looking at it. What thickness should I be dealing with.
