We are jumping right into the next Build Off Contest and this time we are pumping up the theme.
This time around the theme will be that all boards have to be a composite material composition.
There are no restrictions on materials. fiber glass, carbon fiber, bamboo, kevlar, foam, cardboard, lexan, whatever. I just want to see some builders try working with more complex materials. We had a few last time and there are plenty of "how to" threads on here to help get you started.
This contest should appeal to a more advanced builder but that does not mean that a novice can't crank one out. Don't be afraid to push your limits and try new things.
Here is the time line.
-The Official Build time is the month of September. You have the whole month to build your board with composite materials from start to finish.
-Entry Thread goes up Last Weekend of September. You'll have until October 6 to get your photos of your entry up. (I am on vacation around this time so that's why the long entry period)
--Entries should have pictures of your materials, pics during the building process and the finished product. Please give details of your process in words and in pictures.
-Voting will start October 10 (to give me time to get home from vaction and get settled). Voting period will last about a week. (I do have some ideas for a new means of voting that I wish to discuss and maybe try.)
These contests are all for fun and bragging rights. Also these contests are to help promote the art of board building. So have fun and try pushing your boundaries. No promise of prizes or rewards are made or should be expected. This is all for fun.
Now the I have your attention here is an idea I have for voting on this contest.
The builders/entrants vote/rate the entries.
All builders entered in the contest would vote on the entries by using a rating system. You rate the boards on design, craftsmanship/technique, finish, etc. You rate all entries except your own. All points are added up and most points win. We did this with the judges on a contest a few back. Worked pretty well. Depending on the number of entries you may only have to rate your top three choices. Again you do not include yourself in your top three.
What do you guys think? Does that sound fair? Think it would work?

Can I also order some butt hole patterns? I need a drop thru.
Corn cob or pineapple? If you don't know, start with the corn cob then work towards the pineapple.
Once bored to pineapple, #### really drops through so try the smaller size first.
Also, not quitting - going to make a guest appearance with a little deck being whipped up for an art show that I've decided to call "Pretension"
