Phil

By the time you buy the valve and pump, figure out the fittings, make the vinyl vacuum bag and found a way to make it all air tight you probably could have paid for one of our kits.
Rockler, Woodcraft, Lee Valley Tool and of course Roarockit sells these kits if you are in North America.

I think it is great that you are experimenting and trying to build your own system but you run the risk, with a home made manual system of not having an airtight seal and blowing away your precious glue and veneers.

I highly recommend you buy our basic kit or look into building a more forgiving, electric system that compensates for any leaks you might have.

I am pleased to be a long time contributer to this forum and spend lots of time helping people with problems they have specifically with vacuum bagging and building custom decks. It put me in a bit of an awkward position when someone on the forum wants to copy our product when we already share so much here.

That said, I hope to see many great decks from you.

i totally would but, the basic one you have is 14x47, and i need 14x 50. But the next step up is 20x 70 and it is $100 almost double the basic one.

We have a small number of 14 x 70" kits that you may be interested in. We decided not to sell this size as most people use the larger bags for drop decks and were complaining that the 14 x 70 bags were too tight.
They are $65.00 plus shipping for a full kit. You will need to email norah@roarockit.com if you want one as they are not on our web site.

I hope this will help.

Ted
