Default First BUild...

I for my first build i am going for a stiff as granite, DH board, with bath tub like concave,

at home depot, i could only find 1/4 inch plys of baltic birch, and i had some 1/4 red oak lying around.

so at this point i have all press materials set up, and my wood ready but i am wondering about how thick to make the board, becuase an 1&1/4 of wood seems a little thick maybe.

i was also thinking about putting the red oak piece in the middle of the 4 birch plys, or as a bottom layer, for an added stiffness.

any suggestions would me most appreciated before i put it in the press at aproximatley 9:30 tonight.

don't build with homedepot wood. they only put birch on the visible plys, which are also the thinest ones. The middle ply is usually made of pine or fir and offers far less strength. I recommend summit hardwoods. They sell the elusive maple veneers.
