Like I said, I am building a board, that needs to be strong and with a tail.
stuff I have,
homemade press
Shape and design
3 layered birch wood
resin
Fiberglass
Glue
tools
etc
Well, the last board i made was two 3 layered birch wood on top of eachother fiber glassed together. and the top was fiberglassed as well.
the problem was with that board was, that it was way to flexible. strong, but too flexible. thats a problem when you want to do tricks and to actually use it like a normal skateboard.
I want to know how to make a long lasting strong yet with a tad of flexibility, a tad, so it could take some weight when i land off a ledge 4-10 feet high.
i've tried many things like just glue, three 3 layered birchwood stacked and glued with gorilla glue, snapped within minutes, and then that fiber glass board i talked about earlier.
You haven't mentioned many of the variables needed to give you an exact answer, if one even exists. Length, wheelbase, concave?, camber?, your weight, how much of a kick... All of these things and more are needed to get an idea of what you are doing.
Two layers of 4mm (1/8-ish) with glass in between would indeed be quite flexy.
If you are trying to build a more standard popsicle deck, you will not succeed with birch ply.
Given the materials that you have available I would suggest the strongest deck you could build would be 3 X birch ply with glass top and bottom. You could further strengthen this by putting glass between the layers of ply but this would result in a very heavy board.
If you could get ahold of some thinner veneers of maple or bamboo you will end up with a considerably stronger deck.
My little street decks are as unbreakable as you can make a board. 5 layers of 1.5mm vertical bamboo with carbon fibre underneath the two outer layers and a layer of kevlar on the bottom (b-c-b-b-b-c-b-k). The board ends up 7mm thick (yeah, I know, it should be 7.5mm at least, but I've measured 25 boards and they always end up at 7mm) and weighs less than a fart. If you tried hard enough you could break it, but not by skating, no matter how hard.
I wish I could offer more but I think that a change of material is in order for you to achieve what you want.
Would I be able to find maple in a local hard ware store as home depot?
Instead of gorilla glue or fiber glass, what kind of adhesive would you recommend?
Im making this board that will be a close shape shape as a normal skateboard that you would see in skate shops. Width would be around 8.0 or 7.75.
the nose will be a rounded point that has alittle pop to it, and a nice squarish Tail to give me some good pop alittle concave.
