I haven't forgotten about the Build Off. Have you???
So I am scheming and thinking on how we can make the Build Off bigger and better this year. If you have an idea please throw it out here.
So I'm thinking we have a Build Off for April or May. April being a week away at this point might be too little time to spin up some builders but April is when I'd like to do it. What do you guys say? As for theme.....I am thinking dancers. We start off easy and try and get a little harder with each Build Off.
We will have our Open Theme Summer Build Off either in June or July. That is a no theme build. You will have to declare a class this year. Beginner/Novice or Experienced/Expert. If you're a new builder you are a novice. If you've been doing these contest for awhile or run your own board building business you are an expert. Do you get the idea? Sand baggers will get bumped up if I have too.
So this should be the year of the championship tournament. We will run four Official Build Offs this year. I'm going to run some sort of points system. Builders that enter all four Official Build Offs will earn points. Points are awarded on how you place in each contest. At the end of the year (or at the end of the last official contest) a winner will be selected as "Builder of the Year." We'll try and do something nice for you. No promises but we shall see. What do you guys say about that?

i think a dancer thread would be so damn awesome. Not only will we get super amazing builders to make dancers, we will also get to experience the "non professional" builds which will get more people into building. Right on, now im stoked.

Although i dont fancy making a dancer, il make a big board that dancing can be carried out on, if thats allowed.
Love the idea of having classes, will stir up the newbies and give em some more competition, and for the older, well i say older, more experienced guys a chance to show there new stuff, great idea.
Nice idea of having an overall builder of the year to, that will be pretty cool.
Dancer sounds good... just started drawing out some shapes. Maybe instead of "Dancer" it should just be a length requirement? Over 48"? I dunno. Anyway, super stoked for the first build off of the year, and I love the Idea of a "builder of the year" award. Maybe Free advertisement space here on the fish for the experienced/pro builder category? Any way, let's get building!
Dancers sound good to me! I've been wanting to build one for a while. Our new press is almost done, and the first thing I was going to press was the dancer!
