I wish I could do those. I may start trying them that way once I'm more consistent with frontside. They look more awkward, even when done smoothly, but look sooo hard so it makes up for it.
Can you do them? Any tips?
Im the complete opposite, backside is sooo much simpler in my book. Frontside I cant get half a meter doing a nose manual, backside i can almost always do a nice long arcing nose manual and then 90 degrees of pivot, still trying to land them consistently.
For reference I've been learning them going up (then back down) a gentle slope and I ride a Lush Globe 38". The nose is very wide and long so theres plenty of room to adjust where i need my front foot. I do what Adam and Adam said about gently swinging your arms for momentum and keep my front heel closer to the front truck than I do my toes This makes the pivot easier after holding the manual for a little longer. The only other advice I can give is go into it a little bit faster than you first think you need to and put your arms nice and high up in the air for balance. Once I get a few on film for the Challenge ill post a link for ya.
All the best and keep practicing. Adam.

Re: The Loaded Challenge Thread: Series 2
I'm gunna learn how to do it (backside) once i get some sleep. 13 hours of sleep in 3 days is really effecting my skating...I whipped out just cross-stepping just now!
todays video is up already, the recording quality this time is painful though.
cool, now I got something to do today!!
I'm wondering how many weeks will go by before we get the second challenge, hopefully not too many I might need the time to get it down.

I have to say, sorry Louis, but the vid was very thrown together. It looks like it was just uploaded directly and nothing was edited at all.
Anyways, the trick is a little bit harder than I thought it would be. No matter what, you have to do a toeside slide this time, either regular or switch. I'm still deciding which way I want to do this trick, but I'm thinking heelside into switch toeside. I got my heelside slides down, but switch toeside will be a bit tricky. Although it'll feel similar to a heelside 360...but I'm not allowed to use my hands unfortunately.
This one will take a bit of commitment for me to get I think. Oh well, it'll definitely be a fun one once I start to get the switch toesides.
On the bright side, I'm noticing huge improvements in my G-turn consistency, and my circles are getting much tighter/smaller.

In a parking lot I will continue to do them wide (I hope)....but I was at the point where on some two lane roads I had problems getting them around without reaching the opposite curb.

Here is the real challenge video. I messed up and sent adam the raw footage and out-takes. I hope this one is a little better and cleaner.
Awesome, much better. And the tips always make me feel a bit better too.
After this afternoon's practice I'm still a bit freaked out going into a switch toeside slide. I couldn't get myself to commit. But now my heelside slides are 100% better than before, so that's a step in the right direction.

i agree...now i think i have a better understanding of how to go about this challenge, thanx for the great remix of that video. good job little cowboy, get along little doggie
I just wonder if it'll be a combo trick...like all in the same line. That could be kinda frustrating having to do a shuvit and fakie shuvit in the same trick if that's the case. Plus I'm not sure what board I'd use since a Vanguard (and a Dancer) would both be very hard to do switch or fakie shuvits on...
