I'm riding a Surf-One Pakala III (hard maple, 44"). Back when I bought the thing, I didn't know anything and didn't care that the store had put on Independent trucks, but now I'm riding to class daily and hittin up some garages when I have time and I'd like to be able to take a corner without praying I'll stick to the ground. I want good all-around wheels on the sticky side and trucks that are smooth and carvy, but stable enough for me to ride to class everyday. Also, I'll probably be on this setup for a while so price isn't really an issue. Does anybody have suggestions for a new truck/wheel combo?
i disagree with the grippin comment, they are my favorite wheels, but others grip more, for instance, siksix, sevenO's, pink zigs, probably both O'tangs, superballs, hotspots, avilas, cambrias. not telling you not to get grippins, in fact thats what i'd recommend, but all the others will suit you very well, you will have no complaints.
to answer the question of this thread. i'd say either paris 180 preferably the 6 hole baseplate, indy 169, tracker 184's, randal 180's, holeys. and any of the previously mentioned wheels
Wedge/Dewedge your Indys..
And get the right bushings for in those
puppies. Do some searching....
Indy's are better than you think when set up right.
Indy's are very carvy fun trucks..Ask those who know and you'll
understand why.
Buy some Lime or Pink Zig Zags and good bearings and be very happy..

thanks a ton guys! I've taken what you said and done some research and here's what I'm thinking
keep my Indys - thanks samhell
Khiro bushing kit
Khiro riser kit (with 1 set shock risers I already own)
Pleasure Tools Abec7 bearings & 1 set spacers
Orangatang 4Presidents or Red ZigZags
Thoughts? I know the kits seem a bit excessive, but I figure it's a good investment and I can fine-tune and figure out my ideal setup that way.
On the wheels - I forgot to mention before that I don't necessarily ride on the smoothest of surfaces all the time - how big a difference will 77a vs. 80a make?
Edit: I'm looking at getting a slightly longer kingpin too...
