Default Spliff for Commuting?

I'll be going back to college soon and I'm really looking for an awesome commuting/cruising board to go to class and just get around in general. The size/look of the spliff really caught my eye, not to mention the reasonable price. Originally I was just going to get the deck and toss my RII 180s and Gravity Streeg Gs on it but I might order a complete board. Most importantly I want the ride to be super smooth(extremely important), easy to carve on but stable if I start to pick up speed. I'd also like a good flex in my board. So just a few questions.

1. I only weigh 135, it says the flex is medium, can I make it flex?
2. Is the upgrade to the seismics worth it for my purpose?
3. What's the deal with the Soujourn? It looks basically the same save length and materials but its not on their board comparison page.
4. How are the Boca wheels?

Any other recommendations.info would be appreciated, but I'd like to stick with a smaller board as I will be carrying it into a classroom.

My girlfriend uses hers for commuting. The size is great for that purpose. I find it pretty stiff. I weigh 150 and it really doesn't flex much. She has paris on it, so I'm not sure about the seismics (but they look cool, and bustin seems to recommend them). The sojourn is a little longer, made of bamboo, and has more of a kicktail. I might be inclined to go with it over the spliff. The Boca wheels are great, very sticky and grippy if that's what you want.

I would suggest no seismics. They are good trucks and stuff, but are a pain/expensive to dial in with their springs. They are also kinda heavy which gets a tad annoying if you have to carry your board.

I did not like my spliff. Hated the seismics. Ended up giving it away. Go with something like a Loaded pintail.

LongBoardLarry Pusher any day! Lighter than the trucks that are mounted on it! Small like a sports car, and when it's dropped through it's oh-so-low to the ground!

I looked at loaded and liked what I saw, but it's a lot more than I would like to spend. I personally hate the shape/look of the loaded pintail so if I did splurge 150+ for a board I would probably just get a vanguard flex 3 or 4. At least I could stand on these boards before I bought them, the only shops around me carry complete Loadeds and Sector 9's and that's it.

I would build my own but I can't get any Baltic Birch. I could obviously carve on a Vanguard, and I'm not that into extreme speeds, could I commute on it? I really really need an all purpose board focused first on commuting to classes, then on carving.

Oh jeez, I started out with a tiny little commuter and now I'm at a vanguard, curse my indecision. I am a fan of the vanguard though, plus I could use y existing RII 180s and not have to spend any money on more trucks right away.

Vangaurd is cool as a commuter. storage is the big issue with the vanguard. I used one for awhile. Soujurn is made of bamboo not whatever the spliff is made of. The spliff is super stiff I weigh 230 and it didn't really flex either. The seismics aren't worth the extra money unless you want to try them out. They're cool trucks with a very wide range of motion and are really low to the ground. Overall, I think the spliff is a cool ride but mostly b/c its going to be kida unique. It isn't an all around board though. It turns it goes and is pretty low b/c of the wedging. It's unpleasant to slide and whatever to carve and if you losen your trucks enough they will bite. I LOVE the boca wheels though =P

Yeah I've definitely decided the Loadeds and Insect Mosquito are just way more than I want to spend. Sadly I can't try any boards but loaded and sector 9s where I live, and I don't like what they carry/their prices.

So basically from scratch, if anyone knows of any boards that are about $100 (deck only, no more than 120) or less that are

Good for Commute/Carve, basically NO downhill or sliding.
will flex moderately under my puny 135 lbs.
Want concave + camber, don't care if it has a kicktail or not. preferably about 30-36ish inches

Any suggestions would be good.

Keep in mind that loadeds are quite bouncy and while people commute on them, its not the most practical thing to do. Loadeds are cool and are a lot of fun, but I can't see pushing that thing for a long period of time, the bounce would start to piss me off.

I am basing this only on specs, plus the knowledge that Mark only stocks quality stuff.
Mile High Skates

Specs:
32" x 8.5"

Dropped for easier pushing, carvy truxks...worth a thought.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure I'm going for the spliff as I can customize it, it will work with my existing trucks/wheels, and all the specs are good. I've read a lot of good reviews and they almost all said it was a flexy board (even riders at 145 lbs), but even if it is stiff its not a huge deal. I currently ride either a straight 3/4 inch plywood 33" or a 47" crappy 3 ply home depot birch, I doubt I'll be making a downgrade.

1. I only weigh 135, it says the flex is medium, can I make it flex?
- There isn't really a ton of flex in it to begin with. I weigh 160 and I get a little
but not much to speak of. It's a short/wider board with 7 plys.

2. Is the upgrade to the seismics worth it for my purpose?
- Depends on who you talk to - I say no. The new RII's are awesome.
3. What's the deal with the Soujourn? It looks basically the same save length and materials but its not on their board comparison page.
- I believe it's a bit longer and made of bamboo (this board may actually have more flex)
It has a little longer wheel base and more of a tail than the Spliff.

4. How are the Boca wheels?
- I love 'em. After 2 months of riding them every day, twice a day,
they haven't failed me once. I highly reccommend them

Default Re: Spliff for Commuting?

the spliff is a sweet board.

1. I'm 150, so theres not much flex from my view.. ask a heavier person.

2. don't get the seismics. I did a lot of research when choosing trucks for my spliff, and there are just too many horror stories about seismic maintenance. f.uck it.

4. The boca wheels are sweet, at 66mm theres no wheelbite even with loose trucks.
