Hey I was wondering what kind of speeds other long distance riders usually maintain on a long flat course. I just pushed about 36 miles today and stayed at about 10-11 mph and I'd like to know how that compares with the rest of the lond distance community. What kind of averages are common to pushers or pumpers. Is there a difference in speed between pushing and pumping?

When I'm pushing I usually maintain a 5 minute mile, which translates to around 12-13 mph according to my GPS, but its not a completely flat trail.
10 to 13 average over a distance is about all I can do. It drops the further I go.
you should check out www.pavedwave.org
Those guys go crazy distances.
also if you are in WA you should come down for the Portland Pusher in august. http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registr...?ContestID=368
Cool, looks like i'm pretty close, maybe just a couple more mph. I would like to do something on the scale of the seattle to portland ride within a couple years. I've been averaging about 120 to 140 miles a week so I think if I refine my push a little I could start doing some serious distance rides.
Probably can't make it to the Portland pusher cause I don't have any way of getting there right now, but I'd really like to do a push race like that in the future.
