i wanted to get into some LDP and i've got bigzigs on my dervish right now. I was wondering if i should grab myself some 97mm 75a flywheels because the roads im gunna be taking on are horrible. thanks!

Ive got a set of 97s I love for long distance riding and terrible roads.
Ive mounted mine on DH boards though.
You will be adding a lot of weight to the Dervish, and the 97s can slide out pretty easy, not to mention they have a lot of leverage on your axles, so you can bend your truck axles. Still if the board is for transport on the flats, and you arent trying to do slides and tricks, you will probably be OK.
Its your call, there are a ton of people who hate those big wheels, but as you said its for long distance and bad roads, Id say thats what they are for.
Yeah 97 is overkill, especially for a LDP. I say that for two reasons: you would probably want 10mm axles on those wheels, so your axle wouldn't bend. I don't know any trucks tailored for pumping with 10mm axles, although there are some Bear Grizzly 10mm. I'm not sure how they are for pumping. Also, 97 is just overkill.

I read that bigger wheels make pumping more difficult. However on my pusher dervish I run 85mm speed vents 78a they are superb really grippy and great rebound. I can pump these but for normal riding I prefer 75mm.
If your looking for a good LDL board you might want to consider a top mount look over at paved wave loads of good setup info on there.
Are all the shitty Dervish threads getting moved here now or what?
