I'm looking for a dropdown topmount deck to turn into a LDP-P (long distance pumper/pusher) board.
I've gone over pavedwave.org and have seen that the Evo seems to work out well for this. Any other dropdown decks that would make good pumpers? Dropdown only, not drop through since they're not as efficient for pumping (so no dervish pumpers).
Some boards that come to mind are the:
Kebbek John Caften
Landyachtz Evo
Subsonic Reflex
Subsonic Swift
I currently have a Pulse 40, and while the board is great on the flats, it's way too sketchy on hills with narrow roads/trails. It's also a bit more difficult to push/footbreak with since i'm wedged and risered up to the sky so i don't get wheel bite.
So, i'm looking for a dropdown topmount deck that's good for pumping, pushing, and decently stable down mild hills (I know i can't ask for too much with the super loose quick turning front trucks).
Also, please don't tell me to search since i'm a noob. I've done enough searching and there really isn't much about LDP on this site.
i 2nd longboardlarry. look at the pusher and the drop pin models. you can also get more, or less flex by changing number of plies (board thikness). also larry can totally customize the board. length, width, color, graphics etc. i own a drop pin and its primo for what you want to do. his decks have been used on cross country tours, and right now a guy is using the pusher, to cross china. go to longboardlarry.com and theres links for vids of the china trip.
I'm actually talking to Scott at Subsonic, and he says he has a prototype in the works right now that has the wedging built into the front of the board. I'll definitely check out LBL if it doesn't work out with Scott - although I have faith in him.
I've been avoiding the Evo-Bennett pumper, because the wheel base is too long. I don't want anything longer than 31" and it's also too stiff - haven't been on one, but i imagine 11 ply and being designed for DH, it isn't going to flex for my wimpy 145 lbs. That, and with how much the deck costs, I could easily get a full custom deck from Subsonic at practically the same price. Waiting isn't a problem for me. I live in SoCal and can board year round, although winter is all about snowboarding - that only happens 2x a week though excluding major trips.
