I've got a 38" Vanguard with Chargers and Gumballs and am planning on taking it up to my university pretty soon. From what I've read on here the Gumballs are relatively slow compared to other similar wheels such as the Big Zigs. I'm looking for some wheels that will give me the most distance per push and have enough grip to swing around all the pesky sorority chicks staring down at their phones.
Right now am looking at Lime BigZigs or the new InHeats. Despite the hype and bandwagon marketing the 'tangs look like a quality wheel, albeit overpriced IMO. I do like the bright orange though...haha.
Will these wheels provide any noticeable difference compared to my Gumballs? Recommendations?
I'm also planning on buying some Bones Reds with the new wheels.
Yes, Big Zigs and In Heats will be a little faster than the Gumballs, but the difference isn`t dramatic. I prefer the Orangatangs for it`s slightly plusher ride than the BZ`s for cruising.
That said, if the surface where you are riding is pretty smooth, smaller wheels could feel faster unless you`re pushing a lot..
For my two cents, the Seismic Blast Waves or Speed Vents (75A or 79A). Blast Waves 75a are very grippy and have a smaller contact patch. You can run with 79a for higher speed and with the new black ops, the wheels are still very good with gripping.
for campus cruising you wont notice a difference, so there is no need to get new wheels

That being said, if it were me, I'd go taller and thinner contact patch for more distance per push. Not smaller and fatter. Speaking strictly about Gumballs to bigz/o-tangs btw. If you were to say you were thinking about getting the EW 66mm Superballs, I might say that was the way to go. Hypothetically speaking that is...

I just was looking at those two; I'm open to all wheel recommendations, that's the point of my thread.
I can say the O-tangs are pretty awesome. I'm a skeptic of over hyped products, but they were getting such good reviews, and I'm such a gear whore, I bought them any way and stuck them on my Evo. I have to say i was impressed. My favorite slalom shaped wheel to date. And I've rode them all.
If you are cruising a lot, get some flywheels. 76mm/83mm, most of the eurethane is on the outside, but roll distance isnt sacrificed and acceleration is easy.
Slow down... Campus is for cruiseinnnnn.... Checkin out the Betty's... frestyli'n some surf rat nose move Bro! Take your time to chill the ride on a killer surf shaped narrow beam cruise deck. Bahne Banshee, Cadillac 70's, Bennett 5.0"s.... Life is short... get your flow and gnar some style... don't forget to squeeze some chicks and weez the juice!
Why don't people just stop looking for "fast" wheels, and just put a ####### motor on their boards.
