I'm in the market of buying my first longboard and I wanted it for some cruising, carving, but something different. I came across the spud and thought it looked great but I'm not sure if i would feel comfortable on it or not.
The only other longboards I have ridden are a sector nine carbon trylam and a s9 wedge witch I thought where quite comfortable. I just don't know if i would feel natural and how low the board is also concerns me.
I plan on getting it from Stoked Skateboards so if their is a problem with this please let me know. They just seem to have the pest components available for the price. If anyone has any suggestions on what trucks wheels, etc. I should get, please feel free to let me know Thanks.

I have never ridden the supd before, though cause of the drop I would be concerned it may not carve as well as some other boards? But if you get it I suggest some Randal R-II 180mm. With some O'tangs or Big Zigs in you durometer of preference. And to finish it off yes Stoked is great, great prices and super helpful, they got me my Dervish super quick.

I had a spud for a while, and it was my first low board(my other board was a topmount), but I had no problem adjusting to it. I think I am just more of a fan of lower boards though. the problem I did have with it is that the standing platform is quite small and I found it uncomfortable. I have a wider stance though and ended up getting a demonseed to replace it (huge standing platform). It would feel noticable smaller than a trylam I think.
I would deffinately recommend a lower board though because they feel stable and make pushing a lot easier. I would just recommend something a little longer. also, if you are afraid of the feeling of a spud because it is really low, you might want to try a drop through, which is closer to the height of a topmount, and they tend to have more foot room for their length. ex - rayne hustler and hellcat, LY dropspeed, dervish, insect mosquito, subsonic barrage, kebbek hairpin, etc.

Mosquito is a great board for sure, but the wait on them is pretty long if I remember correct.
AS far as the spud goes I've heard nothing but good things about it. I can't speak from experience since I don't own one, but people seem to be pretty stoked on them.
If you want to get a good idea of some boards you can check the review section. It's pretty comprehensive and might help you out
