Alright everyone I'm all pumped up and wana do this.... i'm thinking about trying to organize a skate from vancouver bc all the way to san diego or even just to the mexican border. Tell me what you think people. I checked google map and it said it would take 20 days to walk it, meaning 12-15 days to skate it. It would be a test of all we are made up of and i'm sure it would be alot of fun.
20 days to walk it?? How many miles per day are you planning on going? It generally takes hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail an average of at least 3 months to complete, and thats at an average of 20-25 miles per day. They go through 3-4 pairs of boots too, so you would have to bring extra shoes as well I imagine. You camping or hotel'ing?
um, i hadn't gotten as far as sleeping yet... but probly camping, and i think we could very easily to 50 miles in a day. am doing 17 today and working 9 hours... and 8 miles only took me like 40 mins...so probly 75-100 miles a day i guess.

there is a lot of rough road and big hills down the coast.
ok... well this is why i'm gathering info about it. it would be really nice to get locals from each town to how us a good way thru and stuff like that cause it would just suck ass to skate 1500 miles of i5... lol

there are three main ways to get through Nor-Cal I-5, 101 to the 1(coast) or the 101.
cool, i think i could get us through washington pretty well.... then all we have to do is figure out oregon... but yeah figuring out where to sleep would be a hard part. the other hard part would be how to carry ur gear. trailer like the guy in china or backpack...
Coast riding is your best bet for scenic/just fun riding.
So your gonna skate 50 miles a day with a huge backpack with all of your stuff? Have you tried pushing with 50 lbs on your back yet? Might have to look into some training.
Guys on hiking the Pacific Crest Trail mail themselves supplies at every post office along their route. You might want to look into this, unless you plan on having a car trail you the whole way.
yeah i was thinking riding the coast would be best as well.... and i don't really wana do have the car but it would make life so much easier. and yes i was thinking about skating all of tomorrow w/ a heavy pack. just to see how it would be. gotta do mah research....
My Rand Mcnally Road Atlas says Vancouver to SD is 1408 miles by I-5. Longer if you take the Coast Highways 101 & 1 (which will have less traffic and tons of state campgrounds and other places to sleep) or US 99 which will have hundreds of small towns and go through really hot geography.
By your schedule that's over 100 miles per day; which is not possible. Perhaps you need to do this in stages over multiple summers.

i think as for this summer.... i'm just gonna do sumtin like skate to maryhill or sumtin that would be a week or less.... ya know, but still this is a good idea for next summer.
50 miles a day would be doable only once you have some serious training. I do 15 to 20 a day and when I did 55 miles in one session I got so burned out I could barely move. You may be able to 8 to 10 pretty quick but if you go farther you find out that your body breaks down at a certain point. Start small and build up. Going down to maryhill is a way better idea than going from canada to mexico. You have to be James Peters to 100 miles in a day.
