I got some pointers with this in another thread but it was a little off topic so I am starting this one.
I want to be able to push off with both legs. Right now I push with my left and face left with my right foot in the front so I guess I'm regular goofy foot.
To switch would I just to the opposite-- face right with my left foot at the front of my board. I just tried it and it does not feel right at all. If you have mastered this I and maybe some others here would like to hear some tips.

The most effecient way is to alternate between pushing with your front foot and pushing with your back foot. Goofy/regular to goofy/mongo rather than goofy/regular to switch/regular. It's much easier to stay in the same stance (pointed the same direction) and alternate legs than to alternate stances. You almost stand in slalom water ski stance in between, but once you master pushing with your other leg you catch on quick. I would recommend going out and only skating mongo for a session. It will feel awkward but it really is worth it. Check skogging.com to see what it looks like.
Right now you are as you say a Goofy Regular
push regular = with your rear foot
you need to learn to push mongo, with your front foot it take more balance and can get a little squirrelly. Honestly I think its easier to to learn regular as a mongo since we are already used to be a little off balance

I would say it's probably easier to be naturally mongo and learn regular. I try to get most of my friends to learn both and only the mongo pushers have started doing it. I just started switch skogging and the switch mongo has been the hardest to learn. After a few sessions though it's starting to feel comfortable.
Just try diffrent foot positions, play around with it and see what you find the most comfortable. It will feel weird at first but after you get used to it its deffinitly worth it. For a more tech explination see below.....
I went for another go. I'm not even sure of a stance, I'm just trying to have any balance at all right now with my left foot on the board while pushing. It was definately a burn which has to be good and I did improve some.
Find a long flat bike path and switch between all of the different pushes; goofy/regular, goofy/mongo, switch/reg, switch/mongo. It took me about three 8 mile rides of doing that and I had it down. The first time it was hard to keep pushing switch because (I'm regular footed) my right leg would be burning after holding me up. I loosened my trucks up a bunch and practiced balancing on my right leg both on carpet and when riding. Really loose trucks will also force you to balance better, which will help out with normal riding as well.
I went out again today after work and there was a HUGE difference. I think mongo might be the easiest. I have to be honest when I first tried to push with my other foot I was sure it was hopeless but I'm starting to feel it.
If you are riding on loose trucks then tighten them up. It helped me alot with balance, making it so I just had to worry about getting the motions down more than balance. You can loosen them up over time, but it's a handy thing to have a solid place to stand when starting out.
Yeah, it really just comes down to practice. I've just been getting comfortable kicking mongo. Just try to replicate what you're doing only backwards. At first I wasn't bending my back knee enough so my balance was screwy. And then once you get it, Skogging kicks butt!
