I have a LBL walkabout which I love and commute on. It can be a little squirrelly downhills but really puts down the miles. It way rocks for LDP over my Insect Surf Bug and Bustin Complex.
Barefoot Ted has me thinking a Subsonic Pulse would be better because he got the world record on it.
I have read good things about Roe, too.
Question is: which setup is the best? I know that to a certain degree it is a matter of taste but some of these simply have to perform better than others.. Apologies for the newb sounding question but pavedwave is out of date and I haven't found a real discussion by LDPers yet.
actually the site hasn't changed so much lately because the boards don't really have to change so much. once you've got a setup, the rest is all about fine tuning. i was riding my 2006 mermaid until march of this year, now I'm on the 2007 mermaid most of the time. when Ted rode it, his eyes bugged out. the difference between the Pulse and Mermaid is as different as the way two different people pump.
and bottom line, Subsonic and Roe both have professional racers on their boards, so they really do just boil down to a question of preference. essentially, Sub's tend to be a stiffer deck, Roe's are often dialed flexier. you could try both down at the lake, anytime!
I can't help thinking that the setups could be more efficient than they are -- all this wedging and whatnot seems makeshift.
I'm an OK LDPer but I can't drive up steep hills without a very serious workout.
Is the state of the art really a Mermaid with wedging and Trackers in back, Bennets in front? She is a thing of beauty, but I can't help thinking that LDPers need something better.
ill be takig my galac pumping deck and training on it for the next ultraskate. gotta make sure he gets in their with roe and subsonic in rep right? hahaha. this time itll be in a velodrome hopefully so a full charged ipod and 170 miles at least!!! ( i hope. hahaha)

Just under 2hr 40mins. I should add it was on a race track near the coast and we had a 30-40mph onshore breeze for about a mile of each lap, which was an absolute killer. Even the lycra clad in-line guys had problems getting through it.

yeah I've had breezes like that on my 20 mile commute home...it truly sucks when everything you have is barely faster than you can run

we've been involved with a few different projects for some time now, a couple of which will be improvements to different styles of riding and not just limited to the efficiency of the pump.
there's a new process for manufacturing decks coming out of canada which is secret.
adjustable angled risers in 1/2" (8 settings 0-16°) and 1/4" (6 settings 0-10°) which is also secret.
state of the art - yes.
available to the public - no.
early last year i revealed my technique for laminating a foam filled wood deck to a few people so that really isn't under wraps.
so now you know...
