Default Mini Carve Upgrade?

I just got a Mini Carve as my first longboard. It has Randal 2 150's, gravity abec 5's and 72mm 78a gravity super G wheels. It's an ok ride, but it doesn't seem that great for bombing hills.

What should I upgrade on it to make it better for carving and bombing hills without spending too much? should I focus on wheels or bearings or what? And what should I get?

Thanks for any help...

Hm, I'm not sure how to upgrade it where the upgrade makes it carve more and more stable. I'm pretty sure that's impossible.

Well it doesn't seem like I'm getting much out of my board when I'm going down hills. So would getting new bearings (abec 7's maybe) or new wheels (possibly Gumballs) make the board significantly more fun to ride?

Yes get new wheels, those Gravity wheels are pretty bad. Any other good quality wheel will roll much better , a dramatic difference actually. The bearings will not matther that much.

My girlfriend had this same problem recently. I thought it might just have been that the board was a bad fit for her, but then when I rode it I saw that it felt like a long brick. I spent awhile with it, experimented with the bushing, changed the risers, and changed the bearings. Nothing really worked. Even with better wheels it was a little rough.

The thing is, after all of that wearing in, the thing started to ride better and better. It's pretty stiff, and in my opinion the board just doesn't really come to life until you break it in. Definitely upgrade the wheels, I find that it rides nice with gumballs or strikers on it. Adjust the tightness on the bushings until you find a good fit too.

Now the board rides great, and is one of my favorites out of ours to ride.

Good luck

hey, been reading the fish for awhile now and figured i should post something because....

I just got a mini carve as my first decent board and its awesome!! well anything would be compared to my other board. I was concern about the flex of the board (im 140lbs) but its just perfect IMO. Took it out right away to carve some hills and feel in love with it

the wheels are a little slow though as blix said. but since im a noob i reckon thats a good way to keep my speed in check.

anyway i was wondering if you guys could recommend an upgrade for the tracker dart stock bushings?

thanks.

I would recommend getting a Khiro bushing kit and experimenting with different durometers. Regarding wheels. We just received the new 76mm Hi-Grade wheels into our warehouse and they will transform your ride. First I would learn some basic slides to check your speed and destroy the stock wheels while learning. Any other questions you can also call me direct @ Gravity. Doug 760-591-4144 ext 21
