A couple of months ago I posted on here asking for suggestions on a setup that would be a low, mellow cruiser/carver. I got lots of good suggestions and I am happy to say I've got the board set up. The only downside is that I tore my ACL the day after I ordered it and it came the day I had surgery! Talk about torture! I won't be able to ride it until next year. Anyway, I tried to upload a picture, but I couldn't get it to work other than in a thumbnail, but if you click to view the thumbnail, it blows up nicely.
It is a Longboard Larry Pusher deck shaped like his Tarpon deck with Randal RII 180's with Khiro Bushings and Earthwing Superballs 76mm/82a with Rock'n Ron's Stage 1 Rockets. It is 43" long & 10.5" wide with a 34" wheelbase. As you can probably tell, it is a drop deck with drop thru's, so it sits very low. Larry told me that any wheels under 75mm would bottom it out. I am thinking of getting some 83mm Flywheels too just to be on the safe side, althought I wish they came in black! (I wonder if it possible to dye wheels?) Overall, I am a function over fashion person, but I have to say that this thing looks so sick! It kind of reminds me of a Dodge Prowler or a Grand Prix race car. I just have to add that if you are ever in the market for a custom deck, give Longboard Larry a call. He spent a couple hours on the phone with me and he got the board EXACTLY right! He is an artist and does beautiful work.
Well, let me know what you think!
Thanks for looking,
CC

The deck was about $140 and the hardware was around $120, so $260 plus shipping on the deck, which I can't remember.
Also, I should add it is 12 plys of birch and 1 ply of maple for a bit of snap.

Awesome deck man. I feel you though... I tore my acl and had surgery mid march. COuldn't ride for a while and started before I should have. Nice purchase.

a bit of snap? does that mean flex? What I'm asking, is there any flex? Board looks f'in sweet!

I won't get to ride it until early next year due to an torn ACL (ordered the day before I got hurt and it arrived the day I had surgery!) so I don't know for sure how flexy it is, but I the maple ply I got added gives it some snap like a shortboard. It has a bit of flex, but not too flexy. I told Larry I wanted a stiffer board and he said this would fit the bill without being too stiff. I sold a Loaded Vanguard to fund this and I wanted to avoid a lot of flex. I like the ride of a stiffer board as it just feels better to me.
