Longboard Cruisers, Carving, Commuting, Long Distance Pumping and BoardwalkingWhen it's all about the ride, the general discipline of riding a longboard.
I'm lookin at getting a torpedo 40 as an around-towner and light downhill carver. However, i recently got to try out a set of revenge torsion trucks and loved how they felt. Any thoughts on putting the revenge's on the torpedo deck? is it worth it? is it going to give me what i want out of it? any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks for the review LTRS. Very helpful, from that i'm thinking I may go with the seismics or the revenges because i want something a little more stable and easier to ride. Is there a differnce in maintenence because the seismics have so many more moving parts?
my other question would be...does original sell just decks? i don't see them available on their website, if not where might i find one?

You're welcome.
Difference in maintainance? Well, I never disassembled my Revenge trucks. Since everything is internal on those, I have no idea what the insides look like.
There isn't any maintainance I've had to do on the Seismics.
Does Original sell just decks? I don't think so, but I may be wrong. Go to their support page and call them. They are very helpful and friendly. Maybe they do sell just decks. Ask them.
Where can you find just a deck? No idea. Again, asking them directly is your best bet.

Skateboarding is supposed to be silly and fun. Stay a kook.
I'd call Original directly; my guess is that they will sell the boards by themselves.
My personal experience, is yes originals are a little twitchy to start. They rock small downhills like you wouldn't believe though. I also find them wicked fun to pump while commuting (I run a red spring in the back and black in the front). They are more difficult to push at the beginning as you have to make sure your foot is placed right, and i find the path, torpedo and malakai stand a little taller than i like.
The flex in all three though I find great for pushing. I get that extra pop which feels oh so good.
The Torpedo (on Original trucks) is an extremely thrashy ride. When they rank it as a surf cruiser; it really is.
The boards on red springs all get a huge boost from stability (I'm not sure if LTRS ever rocked the red spring) If you are use to old boards and are wanting that stability; go at least red.
I started off black for 2 months, went red for a few weeks and settled on the black red combo.. it is just in the middle.
I think the torpedo is a great board for getting around, I do find it a bit on the heavy side to carry (but that is okay; you'll be riding the bad boy)
If according to LTRS review Revenge sounds the best definitely rock it. If you're mounting it flush on the board (or a real short riser) you'll likely be fine.. (i'm not sure what height you'll be at) I jut know personally I would never want my total height of the board taller that what it is at now for pushing.

Thanks. And I ride the black springs on everything except my Hybrid 35 which has red springs. The wheelbase of the Hybrid 35 is so short, I didn't even want to attempt black springs on it. The reds work great and stabilize the board quite a bit.

If you want a snowboard feel Malakai definitely out preforms the Torpedo by a mile. The Torpedo ride is alot thrashier in the transition hence the more surf like feel. The Malakai transitions in turns are smooth and flowing. This is a preference thing. I prefer the thrashy feeling, but if you want the feeling of flowing down a slope Malakai!
Rock some large soft urethane and you won't go wrong.
If your goal is to rock the slides stick with the Torpedo though, I find it alot more comfortable to initiate slides on.
The original trucks will definately feel, when setup right, like you're hitting a slope. I hear you can get the same feeling with traditional trucks (Randals or Paris..) but I have yet to feel it (that being said.. i'm lacking on traditional truck experience). I do somewhat contest the possibility is nothing gives you a turning radius like originals..

I have a Kracked skulls 43" M1. It's a pretty descent board being a noob and all. I slide and bomb hills and such but I'm looking for something a little lighter and easier to take around, and something that's good for like uneven surfaces like crapily done parking lots with lots of dips and such. That way I can have a board for sliding and a board for just cruising. I like the Torpedo because it has the nice little turned up tail making it easy to drop off curbs and do a quick turn. The standard S6 trucks look like fun and I'm not sure about the wheels, but I'll definitely replace the bearings if I get it. I'd just like to know if you guys think this would be a good board for what I'm looking for and if not, do you have any other suggestions?
