Longboard Cruisers, Carving, Commuting, Long Distance Pumping and BoardwalkingWhen it's all about the ride, the general discipline of riding a longboard.
has anyone experimented with pumps-per-minute stuff? or with the wavelengths of the tracks you leave behind? I've been doing some studies on that and it gives some awesome feedback for finding your most efficient groove. also, it is helpful for communicating to other pumpers how you ride.
just to give an example... for general riding, my cadence is almost always in the range of 75-150 pumps per minute, with the exception being steep hills. for cyber mile training, i'm finding the best paces are between 85-105 pumps per minute. the distance traveled between my pumps for my general flatland riding is around 9 feet for the short ones and 20 feet for the longer ones. i'm also timing my splits on the .25 mile stretch of flat trail i'm doing this stuff on. i don't know the best way to put all of these stats together, but i imagine there's a mathematician or engineer out there who could do it if they wanted. but even without that, it's a fascinating study, and totally helpful for finding efficient pumps.
