ok, ok....check this out. I just got back from riding my longboard thru that corner on my street, but wouldnt you just know it, the neighbor of mine that lives in that corner house didnt like the idea of me skating thru that corner so she decided to water down the sidewalk and gutter. I only got to cross-step that corner twice!!!!! The nerve of that old fat woman!

I didnt let it phase me tho, I just hung out in my driveway for the rest of the day workin on my step spin move, nose manuals and step-offs. But hey, its all good cos all the time I put into practicing my moves payed off...I could care less if that woman ruined my corner cross-step experience. Cos get this...I GOT THE STEP SPIN DOWN BABY!!!! oh yes, sweet victory! I would like to thank Lee for all the advice he gave me on that move, I would like to thank that fat bitter old neighbor of mine who stopped me from cruisin around and gave me the option to focus more on my stepping, and i would like to add somethin more. Here's a tip that helped me get that move down even faster, for those who are still having trouble with it like i was: try walking on the board as you stand in one spot on the pavement, kinda like let it roll beneath you and get the feeling down of walking backwards and forwards, letting it roll in front of you..just two steps at a time and stepping off, repeat the opposite way. I tried that alot, and I think it totally helped!!!!

so, right after i posted on ssg's thread about girl longboarders and pretty much explained on how girls will fall so go out and ride, i went out to take a quick ride myself. so, there i was bustin out my cross-steps like i normally do when i get in a good little groove, and all of a sudden, i guess i was rolling uphill or something....get this, the board suddenly stopped, only i was in midstep...about to place my back foot forward on the board, and i was leaning way forward expecting to keep rolling. so, i flew off in front of the board and turned in the air... landed square on my ass and rolled backward. good times baby! you gotta roll with it! ALWAYS roll with it! then hop back on and keep on rollin...

get this

me and my little brother were sliding at a local school, when this shortboarder sees us doing some colemans and he joins in, doing some on his short board extremley sketchy. he walks over and asks to use my spud and i say sure, take my gloves off and offer them to him. "i dont need no stupid gloves" he says. he tries to slide, but the board flips out from under him and hits a parked cars wheel. he then walks over and says my board sucks and tries to use my brand freaking new hellcat. i grab it away from him after he pics it up by the nose, scatching up the whole tail. he responds to me saying "why dont you guys just get sector 9's, they are way better.

i try to explain to him that sector 9's in longboards are equivilant to world industries in shortboards.

he walks away.

I carved some hills round my neighborhood while listening to rockabilly. Then I went home and had a couple beers and played some guitar. It was a good day.

So, today's longboarding consisted of riding up to the gas station for a drink.. and realizing the season is almost over.. I was going to go hit a few hills or something after I got my drink.. but it was 26*, and I was feeling pretty chilly.. so I just headed home.. There's no snow in the roads yet luckily, none of it has stuck to the pavement, just a bit in the grass and such..
Oh well, snowboarding season will be here soon enough.. and when that's up.. It'll just be a short wait till I can longboard again

Rode my first parking garage today...

Was riding down to the beach when I noticed a 5 story garage tucked in between 2 vacant office buildings. Rode over to check it out and it was chained off, so it was completely empty. I went over to the elevator and it was working, so I went to the top and experienced my first run.

It was an awesome time. Spent about an hour and a half there before eventually making it to the beach. Plan to return tomorrow .

I went down my first hill today around 30mph. The first time down I hit a crack in the road and wound up falling, but the runs after that were smooth .

I've fallen in love with DH, too bad I haven't found anyone in my area to sesh with...

I've been sick for the last week, so I haven't got much of a chance to skate. I've been using google earth to try and find some parking garages, no luck so far. And since I live in Chicago, I think it'd be easy to find a few...

I met up with some old friends I used to skate with back in the day (they've long quit skating though) and I introduced them to Loaded's Boards and taught them to Lookback and got them to try cross-stepping. It was pretty funny, they definantly weren't used to longboards and especially not used to the flexiness, haha.

i'm totally gonna bump this thread for this bizzare incident i just now had.

well, i went out and skated my usual spot, cruised around and cross-stepped...worked on my ledge hops, all was good. after spending at least an hour of riding i head back to my house. rollin thru my neighborhood sidewalks barely pushing and totally beat rolling the same speed of walking just about. so, here comes this little 4 year old on the sidewalk just one house away from mine hauling a$$ strait for me AIMING FOR ME NO LESS on his little razor scooter. i looked in disbelief as a 4 year old challenges me to a game of 'chicken'. i stopped a second before he turned to get around me, clearing me by 1/2 an inch. i stood there dazed, picked up my board and carried it across my driveway up to my porch.

dude, its not just the fact that he challenged me to a game of chicken that i thought was so bizzare, it was his EYES that got me. he had the stare of one of those Village of the Damned kids....i guess it could have been worse, he could have slammed right into me, and right now, instead of ranting about the incident on sf, i would be digging out his metal scooter from my shin bone.

Saturday I went out with my friends and we skated all day! It was so fun, even though I had to borrow my friends SC9, which was far less then pleasing. we started off just cruising around the Aves here in Ut, then we did a cool slalom run we like to hit, then later we worked on our cross steps on our way to a parking garage. I am really getting them down nice and smooth now, and when we got there, I for some reason decided to try Shoveits, I didn't think I would be able to, but 30 minutes later I was landing them. It was a good day, didn't eat anything the whole day and felt sick when it was over, but so worth it.

Yesterday, (sunday) went to church and my high school class (sunday school) was cancelled for the day. The parking lot was soaking wet and I thought what the heck, I'll just clean the bearings when I get home. I just put in my new bushings and added risers and I wanted to try it out. After riding around the church parking lot a bit I decided to ride behind this one shed. I was kinda on an angle and I rode over what looked kinda like a puddle. OMG black ice! My nice grippy alligators went frictionless and I was on the ground flat. My board was ok (thank god). I never rode over ice on a longboard before and never want to do it again. Don't try it.
