Longboard Cruisers, Carving, Commuting, Long Distance Pumping and BoardwalkingWhen it's all about the ride, the general discipline of riding a longboard.
Its been snowed here a couple days ago, and when it snowed they put down gravel all over the mountain i live on. So the roads arent rideable really even though the snow is all gone off the roads. The roads had just started to get gravel free from when it snowed it early january.......

It got up to 90 here today.

I forgot to post here, but a couple of days ago I was coming back home from English class, there were no cars at all on the street, and weather was pretty cool.So I climbed up a little hill and on a corner I saw my mom's car passing by,and I asked for a little tow,I held on the passenger's door lock and started riding.I started to do some tricks likea lookback, but the coolest part was when I was almost horizontally on the floor and people stared at me surprised.
Ok till here, but then there was a group of old ladies of the kind that worry too much about strangers' lives and shout in the middle of the street. And yep, there were 4 or 5 ladies, they really shouted as if I were almost under my mom's car. Then I got scared 'coz I didn't notice that there were people on the sidewalk,I just asked my mom to stop and jumped off the longboard, then they said things like "Your life's in danger sonny!" "Do you still wanna go to college?" "This is a weapon in your hands son!". I just stood there with a face like "What the Heck..?" and I really, really wanted to say "Hold on a sec, wand whot the f*ck are you? o_õ " But it was quite cool.
i didnt get to skate today, but i got to ski! race my last slalom race of the season and on my first run, dislocated mmy shoulder, and on the second, skiid with a lot of pain. shoulder is good and where it should be but FUNCK it hurt so bad!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Went out with my friend. Race him down a nice hill and ended up with ridiculous amounts of speed. Other than that, boardwalking and practicing my ghost-ride kickflip and Shanker. Both of wish I can do in grass but not 'crete.
Went out to go cruise the neighborhood and stopped at my friends house. He decided to kickflip my v-lam pintail. Not such a good idea, my favorite cruiser is now splitting from the rear.
It sucked. I was already feeling sick this weekend and was just starting to feel a bit better but my brother wanted to skate and my dad made me go out in the cold anyway so now I am feeling like crap again from the wind and 30 degree temps. I had wanted to stay in today so I'd be recovered enough to skate tomorrow, oh well. Set my Shlong board back up and walked up the gravel road to get to the paved stuff to take it for a ride. My stupid dogs followed me the whole way up there and wouldn't listen to me so I had to take them with me. They ran RIGHT beside my damn board on both sides, ran in front of it constantly cutting me off, and being aggravating attention hogs. The wind picked up to a swift breeze that blew into a headwind (joy). Lots of traffic today because there was a funeral/burial a couple miles down the road. Thought we had gave it enough time to finish before we left but cars just kept coming back from it. Skated for about 5 minutes total, got ticked off at the dogs more than anything, and then threw in the towel and called it quits.
I'm sick of this cold weather, and I'm sick of being sick. I've been sick since last Wednesday.
1. got up went to work and got off at 12
2. met up with an old friend i havn't seen in years, Mike
3 went to Danny's house put our wet suits on
4. got the longboards
5. had a 3 hour sesh of gnar longboarding, pretty fun not gunna lie
6. and now im here
Went skating around the city park in Morehead with my friend. Rode my mini with my new Bennet trucks and Tunnel Rocks wheels (heaven) around cones I brought and cruising. Skated for about two hours then smelled a slight skunk odor in the air and saw eyes in the woods and heard them walking around so we packed up all the cones and avoided that side of the area for a while. One of the park operators/officials or something that has residence there came out and got our attention and told us that the park is closed for the winter and we couldn't skate it (city park and the skate park in it).
We talked to him for a while and struck up a long conversation. Turned out to be a pretty cool guy and he liked my old school looking board and said he liked skaters and didn't have a problem with us skating at all and turns out he was one of the people that got the skate park put into place in town, though he said it really needs a half-pipe and they wanted to put one in it but didn't have the funds at the time. Said they are fixing some blown out lights in the park and will have it back on soon and told me who to go talk to about it later to get them to turn them on earlier too. Said its fine if we skate around the park now (after talking to us) and explained that we just need to stay away from the main office parking lot since it might set off the security alarms and he is the one that has to come check it out and turn them off at night. I can fully understand why he wouldn't want us accidentally setting them off. They are apparently are installing a ton more security cameras all over the park because of drug tafficing that is going on in the park late at night (see it a lot when we skate there too, city park at night is a pretty gnarly place).
Next week we will probably skate in a different spot we like and let that one cool down for a couple weeks until the park reopens and we don't have to worry about it being dark and full of gangsters and drug dealers anyway. Might even have a third person with us next week - got a guy wanting to start skating again only wants to try longboarding now instead (found this out before he even knew I had a longboard, he just assumed I was a street skater when we mentioned skating lol I'm far from it..). He was delighted that he'd get to ride one of mine if he came (I work with the guy at the TV station) and said he might bring a camera. So maybe I'll have a few pictures next time.
I'm amazed with the weather in the 60s, sunny, beautiful day that it pretty much sucked.
Having a crappy afternoon with lots of fights with my father (screaming at me basically) and my plans got canceled. Finally got to skate around sunset (just got dark outside now). Was the perfect setting.. road, slightly downhill, leading into the sunset, me with my mini and my brother with his hypercarve. This didn't last long as my dog followed me once again and it took me 5-10 minutes just to get her to move out of the way and stop walking in front of me when I tried to push off. GRR. Every trip down the road was plagued with traffic making us stop and wait for them to pass every minute or two (we were going really slow, I was just carving back and forth as sharp as I could). One asshole got right up on me (they were going about 55 in a 25 mph zone to even get up to me that fast from where I first saw them coming) and started swerving back and forth right behind me blaring her horn angrily, didn't even give me room to footbrake and stop, I just cut over into the left lane and she whizzed past me still laying on the horn. Jerk. I waved at everyone except her today. Learn to drive the speed limit too you stupid whore! Tried to enjoy it from then on but that really soured my ride today and it started getting darker fast once the sun was out of site and traffic picked up even more so we called it quits. Sucks...
We missed our skate club meeting tonight too because no one told me brother about it this week at school so that blows too. That's two times we've missed in a row now. Hopefully I get to skate tomorrow and Saturday since its supposed to be nice...
I rode my new Original Derringer 28 for the first time today (the snow is finally off of the roads). First, whoever it was that said "if you are not careful turning tight then you might disappear up your own ass" was right, the thing is incredible. I can make a 180 degree turn within 4 feet moving at a pretty good speed. I found this out the hard way when I leaned pretty hard into a carve and ended up with a bunch of sand in my palms, but what are you gonna do? I love the board, it takes a bit of getting used to, but It's great. It also has 76mm wheels and good flex, it's as if the cracks in roads and sidewalks aren't even there. If anyone is looking for a campus board the Derringer is the way to go.
I finally got outside for a good amount of time today, as it was finally above freezing. Beautiful weather and a new board, it was a great day.
After putting in a new bushing setup in my Loaded pin, i took it for a test ride. As i was pumping along, enjoying the somewhat nice weather, out of nowhere i found myself falling. I hit the ground, got up, brushed myself off, then found my board behind me. front right wheel wedged itself between a fire hydrant and the ground.
Few minor scrapes, and a bruised palm, nothing serious. But now my lime zigs have a wheel that isnt completely round anymore
I had the worst ride that i have ever had. I got anti freeze all over my board (top and bottom) some on my sweater from where i was holding the board, and antifreeze on my sliding gloves, oh and it looked sunny out but was cold and windy.

wow. that sounds bad. How did you get all of that all over? was it on the street?

It was sprayed in strips all over the streets and was impossible to avoid really, and i cant see the road from the my street. So my wheels sprayed on the bottom, and on my trucks, and then me having to walk some up hill parts (i live on a mountain) got anti freeze footprints and marks all over my griptape...I have no idea how to get it off the griptape....
I had a couple good rides today. Nothing major, or for very long but I appreciated it because it was nice out. Stopped by the lake on the way to the university this morning and cruised around on my Spliff up and down the parking lots, a boat ramp area, and the access road to the place was a nice cruise to carve back and forth on. Was time to go but I had a few more minutes or so and cruised around the roads looking for some downhill spots... boy was I right about that place! There is a plethora of nice roads; many of them WAY over my head but some of them look very promising to learn more on. It is amazing. It looks more like stuff I've seen in videos from you guys out west. I might gear up and try some of the easier (but still gnarly) stuff tomorrow since I think we are all going over there for a pic-nic or something. I'll be taking things slowly and working my way up these things.
Ate a free lunch at Arby's (man those new roast burgers are good..), and grabbed my Spliff once again and skated across town the rest of the way to campus. Worked all afternoon filming a project for Film class then ate dinner again at Arby's with my best friend and his girlfriend. Then came home since we were all tired out from filming. Great day!
