Longboard Cruisers, Carving, Commuting, Long Distance Pumping and BoardwalkingWhen it's all about the ride, the general discipline of riding a longboard.
woke up to torrential rain, cancelled the slalom session I had planned for today talked to some buddies about hitting the indoor pay park an hour from here made a picnic dinner as the day progressed the weather got better and better but until 2 the ground was still wet and then at 3pm the sun came out and the sky turned blue....I called friends to bail on indoor skating and spent 3 hours at the local concrete park....I am tired, sore and content my new board is very fun

After getting all my general BS done for the day, I got home, had a couple of shots of Milagro Tequila, an ice cold Tecate and hit the street in front of my house with my Sec9 Uluwatu...I live at the top of a hill, first house on a 1/2 mile, approx. 40 degree hill that bottoms for about 49 yards and then goes up to the same on the other side...just resurfaced last year so it's kinda like a longboard riders dream pipe(or is that pipe dream?)...usually about 20 cars on this street a day max, so I own it just about anytime I get out there...gentlemen, life don't get no better than this in the deep south...wish you could join me....
Absolutely the best! Longest/most I've skated in one day yet. Five kids showed up and we surfed the hood for 6 hours rotating through a handful of boards I broke out. I haven't had this much pure fun since I can remember. :clap :
Oh and did some tweaks too. I was regretting ever ordering the power nose and jaw bones. Big 9" things didn't fit #### that I had. Or so I thought. Started with the 36 Poolking Resurrection. After drilling and mounting a jaw and bone, I let the kids go through the sticker collection and bling it up. Put some Gravity drifters on it and replaced the system skate bearings with MHS', spacers and speed rings. Suddenly this board (which I didn't really care for before) is now a cool ride and looks loved. Ok, so I grab the Landy Dragon which also has a tail and nose. It was the first board I ever ordered and had ordered it with Gumballs which resulted in wheelbite like a bitch which resulted in my sanding and polyurethaning some wells but still got some wheelbite and it had kind of sat neglected since. Mount the jaw/nose bones, replaced the gumballs with another set of them Gravity drifters, MHS' bearings and stuff. Let the crew do the sticker honors. COOL!! I had one more set of bones and put them on the new Ghoti Manatee. Took it for a test drive and in a real hard carve (luckily slow) I got wheelbite in the front and did my impression of a yard dart! Jumped up and walked back to the garage. Discovered I had one set of 1/4" Khiro risers and put them on. Problem solved and man... did I say how cool this board is.
I'm hoping for a long, dry summer!
Hey 8!...Glad to hear another of us 5-0 boys had a great day...I just posted about mine further up in the thread a few minutes ago...sounds like y'all had a blast even with that human javelin impression you did!...I love hearing about the brotherhood we all have, be it young or old when we get out there on our boards and just have a smokin' time no matter where we are or what age...I'm with you too...a long dry summer out on the concrete wave is all we need to keep on keepin' on....ride safe...MTBmixer
Sorry Guys...maybe I'll eventually get schooled on how this POST / REPLY TO POST thing works...cut me a little slack 'til then...hell, I'm an audio engineer and half the time I can't even answer my freakin' cell phone without instructions....
I had lots of fun around 40KM of just cruising around
packed my bag (water/sweater/MP3!)
and just started riding
only 2 hours (thought it was longer)
It was pretty hot around here...
Might be a nice preparation for France in couple of weeks (Planing on cruising around the town where we're going on holiday)
now need something better than plastic bottles for water
I'm like in an area high in skateboarding but not a lot of fans of longboarding so I've been having fun cruising around the neighborhoods nearby me. Pumping my board based on the beat of the song I was listening to at each moment in time. Always a great ride.
Drove out to the largest hill in our area with a friend of mine. Had a great time untill he fell doing standing 180s on his dervish. His helmet stopped the definite would have been concussion, but he still got some über large road rash on his arm and hip and back.
decided to skate uptown today, idk if u guys know but its about 100 degree's in florida and humidity is like 98% lol its was killer but i had alot of fun. a few hills some sliding and a few obstacles. nice ride!
Went down a hill by my house today and love it. It's one of my favorite hills so far, as well as some of the ones at my bf's house. I also just went around a little today and actually hit a rock enough that it stopped the board, so the board went back and I went forward. But it was nothing, definitely bailed worse than that before. lol. Oh, went to the local skate shop today with my bf to get my new board but they didn't have it anymore! I was/am so upset! Hopefully I'll get it soon though.. sigh.
skated down the main road in central park from 76th street down to the beginning of it. Nothing special. Nice warm day, but humid as hell and still cloudy.

Rode Tussey Mountain hills today with my friends. We got in 5 runs all the 2.6mile way down the hill, and then we found a nicely paved faster road that we hit up for 2 runs. Looks like that is where we will move the downhill race to. We had 4 cars two and only 6 people.
then later in the day, went with some friends to a moderate hill. i got up to about 25/30mph. it was pretty fun. got speed wobbles, just tucked and calmed down. it was nerve-wracking.
