First time in a while on a board, I started lifting and have been sore everyday. I went riding around the neighbourhood. There is a new kid who moved in and is also a senior, turns out he longboards too. I cant believe i actually have a boarding buddy, this tops everything that can happen this year. Its sad that the best thing during my senior year of high school is going to be having someone to ride with.
you have the whole year ahead of you for good stuff to happen. your year is already sounding better than my senior year. not only did i not longboard or have a buddy, but the only highlight was graduation, cuz that meant it was over
testing new home made deck, twas fun and exciting. did some gmarly turns and wicked shreds. managed to get home from school in 1 hour (40 mins of which were pushing), new record... so all in all, a good day

I was out land paddling with my Kahuna Big Stick a few weeks ago and had the following experience:
A woman on a bike stopped next to me on the trail at a street crossing. She unclipped one foot, but couldn’t unclip the other foot fast enough and she toppled over, in slow motion. That wasn’t the end of it though. There is a 6 foot deep drainage ditch that parallels the trail. The edges of the ditch are overgrown with tall grass. The woman was a bit on the heavy side, or “husky” using the old school terminology. When she fell, she just sort of flailed around like a turtle when you flip it on its back, trying to get up. Her flailing brought her dangerously close to the edge of the ditch, then in the blink of an eye, she disappeared, literally. She slid down into the ditch and the grass sprung back up making her disappear completely, as if the earth just swallowed her up. It was very quiet for a few moments. A riderless bike on the edge of the trail was the only clue that somebody had been there a moment before. Then I heard a faint uttering slowly building in volume and intensity…”sh*t, sh*t, sh*t,sh*t….” . I rushed to the edge of the ditch, parted the wall of grass and saw the woman still on her back, letting loose a string of curses. I still had my Kahuna Big Stick in hand and instinctively extended it down to her and told her to hold on. Jay-sus was she heavy! A couple of girls out for a run saw me pulling her up and grabbed some stick to help. It was like a big stick tug of war. Miss Husky and team gravity against me and the two joggers. We finally managed to get her up and over the edge, a bit muddy and flushed in the face, but not injured, physically that is. So thanks to Kahuna Creations for making the Big Stick strong and durable enough to handle many miles of land paddling and the occasional rescue!

I just went out for a ride a couple of hours ago and I'm sure I blew out the calf muscle in my right leg. It felt like someone threw a baseball at my leg. I'm icing it right now but I'm bummed out big time!

The Penn State Longboard Club meets on Thursdays at 6:00pm. Riding like 30 deep is fun. You can go anywhere and people just move out of the way (not a common occurrence for me.) I just wish that I could go faster. Nobody wants to go fast!

Isn't it retarded though how Double Cheeseburgers are $1.29, and McDoubles are $1.00. The only difference is one piece of cheese. That means that like 25% of the cost of the Double cheeseburger is one of the pieces of cheese! What the hell?
I'm going to start tallying up "kills" on my board from the local trails. At night it seems I can get within arm's reach of someone before they notice I'm there, at which point they realize and jump out of the way, often grabbing their friend in the process. So far I'm at 6
Went for a cruise last night around Tropicana stadium. Great ride but i totally slammed towards the end. There is elevated sidewalk that goes over the highway and ends with a spiral down to ground level. The city started putting bumpy concrete patches where the sidewalkd meets the street. Took the wrong approach and caught that, i couldnt recover and bit it. Just a few scratches and my buddy's got a good laugh. Karma's a b*tch though, one of them caught a patch of sand on the way back to their car and slammed too. All in all it was a good ride!

OK, So I've had my Heist for three weeks. I've been riding the around the mostly flat cul-de-sac out front working some long forgotten muscles in expectation of one day riding the double drop to the bottom of the 'hood.
Well today was the day and to my surprise I made it and managed to keep my butt of the asphalt.
To 99.9% of you this would be no big deal, it's not that steep or fast. But for me it was a major achievment and confidence builder.

Mike, keep working at it. It only gets better. We'll have to do an old guys ride someday, I'm moving to the Christiansburg, VA area in a week and that's not too far from Bristol.

Haha. There are some talented riders in Va. You guys should come hang out for some events. That's the best way to meet people and get deeper into the sport. You can really easily pick up tips and get better by pushing your limits with experienced skaters.
i havent gone today yet, but i plan on hitting this pretty sweet hill my friend was talking about, tomorrow. from what he describes...i want to do this to it

If I knew of any events I'd go. I posted in the regions section but got no response . If you know of any please send the info my way. I'm actually right on he TN / VA border .
Hanging with some experienced skaters would certainly help . Right now I'm getting everything from SilverFish which is great but having a bud on the hill would really help.
