Longboard Cruisers, Carving, Commuting, Long Distance Pumping and BoardwalkingWhen it's all about the ride, the general discipline of riding a longboard.
Eh, it was really ####### hot! And while I was going over a bridge I hit a rut and nearly cataupulted my board into a creek, whew....I was so glad it didint go over. And on the way back there were 3 girls walking wide on the sidewalk and they wouldnt budge, they forced me to nearly bale off my longboard. Okay ride, bit I really want to go out again and ride when its a little cooler. I could take another hour or two!
great! nice and cool and thought about going shirtless (t only). went to the docs and he was looking at the ol' Evo. think he might get one, don't know fo sure, hes 80+.
did about 5 miles, picked up some booze and caught the bus back up the hill. no crashes today my saturday and enjoying it to the max. thinking about fVcking with the hood tonight. get the ol' bass out and crank it. hey, they been keeping me up, why not.

yes sir, he knows how to live. Free night, booze and a volume control. The only complaints I've ever gotten is the wife coming out of my own house questioning the decibels. I'm pretty sure the rest of the area code has decided I'm certifiable and will go to bed eventually anyway, so they leave me alone.

It was alright. Had to go get my hair cut, and some picture frames at the dollar store. I use my board to go everywhere, especially since I had to leave my car sitting for over a year while I was away for my training with the US Army. Now that I am back on campus my longboard is my vehicle, and I decided today that I need a new one. Mine is just kinda boring to me now, I want something that will respond a bit better, turn tighter, be "snappy". I have an Earthwings Supercharger, and it was an absolutely amazing board to learn how to skate on, but I just want something different I think to ride around sometimes. Looks like I am going to be shopping, yet again!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Riding my Heist to class today and some girl was running to catch a light. Oddly enough she was moving so fast that I couldn't dodge her. I clipped her shoulder and jumped of my board so I wouldn't completely deck her. When I turned around to see if she was ok, she was already half way across the road and still running.

On my way home I took my dervish to a little hill and worked on my standups.
I got my Toesides 180 standups down pat. Feels good.
Then when I was riding goofy I stepped on my wheel and landed hard on my palms.
I'm all good now, though.
passing the grub store, this latino was yelling "pendy the mo fo" not sure what he meant i footbreaketed and went to the booze store. did i miss something?

Went for my third and final ride of the day...and had a great ride and my first major fall. I Was stoked cause I managed to pull of some short and sloppy but passable tail manuals, I carved around in my favorite parking lot for a while, and just overall had some good fun. And then after I chilled for a little I got up to start skating, and I have no idea what happened. I got one stroke in and then beefed it royally. I think my front wheels hit a rut or something but the board flew out behind me and next thing I know I landed chest, elbow, and palms first on the ground. I got the wind knocked out of me but a minute later I was great, the palms looked fine. My left elbow on the other hand got banged up prettygood, there's no road rash but I think its bruised pretty bad so I'm icing it. Hopefully its nothing more than just a bad bruise.
Wish I had one, I have road rash on my lower back, elbows and ankles so even sitting and watching TV was kinda painful. I will take the hamboard out today for a relaxed cruise though, gotta take it easy for at least one more day.

@sk8girl - that sucks. I just had my first hard slam a week ago saturday. My left elbow as well. I only had about about 15* movement the next day. Better now but I still can't full extend and I guess it really strained some forearm muscles so rotation of the wrist sucks. Bruised top and bottom of the elbow, top and bottom of wrist but no breaks according to the xrays. Icing is good. Check the bottom of your deck and see if you got wheel bite. That'll chuck you off the deck like that. In my case I was too far forward on a dropthough and on a toe side carve, said toes met the wheel, stopped the board and yard darted my ass.

found a trick for rr. spread some neosporin on the rash and cover with saran wrap, tape with masking tape to hold in place. masking tape is cheap thats why i use it. also had rr on my right hand across all the knuckles. just use the above treatment and put a sock over it. keeps things in place while you sleep. change this dressing like you would a regular one. socks are becoming more useful everyday

tnx loug, will try that, I have all that stuff anyway.
8ft, nah my slam n slide was due to new wheels, new asphalt, hot weather and an ego, There was a race going down a recently asphalted one way road surrounded by cacti and rocks. It was pretty narrow and 4 riders. I just got new 78a strikers which in that weather and on that virgin asphalt was stickier than the ickiest.
As the road ends in dirt and rocks most riders started to footbrake, not me, I tried to slide to a stop, for some reason the wheels stuck too much and I lost the board...then it was just me and this rough asphalt. Cost of winning, Hate that road now, for racing at least.

8ft, thanks for teh advice. I definatey know it isnt wheel bite. I think it was just a fluke crevice on teh sidewalk. The arms is really sore today, theres a stripe of road rash I didnt notice before. The whole elbow is bruised, any bicep is sore from all my weight landing on my arm, plus a bruise on my ribs from my elbow. All in all teh arm is good, just realyl really sore. By good I mean I dont think anything is broken. Its probably just gonna be sore for a while. Here's a bad pic: (sorry its so big.)
elbow pads sound like a good idea now? Doofus me has two sets and not a pad anywhere when I dumped. I rode my bike into work today. 10 days wasn't long enough. Damn stiff clutch on the Harley which of course is the left hand. So I was having to brace the right side and pull the left arm back until the lever got close enough to lock it with my thumb. So I kind of wiggled every time I shifted today and doing some big ibuprofen now.

well my fsm, randals, otang durians 86a all came in today
it was a blast.. much more lively then skateboard trucks. (never rode flipped hangers till today) and i got 81 venom barrels on bottom 85 venoms barrels on top. its pretty carvy and suprisingly stable for how insanly carvy it is haha. i have yet to bust out any slides.. a few people told me to just ride for a week and not really push your wheels to hard to prevent chipping.
bombed a few hills.. rode around the mall.. hit up a chinese restaurant.. and got kicked out the comunity colleges property for skating.. (hot springs arkansas hates skaters in case you didnt know)
mine was horrible. i usually skate with my roommate but now he doesn't like skating anymore because of this one incident that happened last week. We were riding in this apartment complex on our way to class and he rode too close to the curb. His wheel caught the side of the curb and threw him forward while his board rolled back, fast. All of the sudden, a car comes out of nowhere and runs right on top of the board. The car's front wheel was right in the middle of the board (Rayne Timeline with Original S8s). I swear it was broken until I got a closer look. The board was literally in a "U" shape, since the orginal trucks are so high and the timeline is a pretty flexy deck. I was shocked it wasn't broken. The lady driver was pissed. We asked her to back up a slowly and she gassed it, HARD. The board wouldn't come out, so she scraped the board so badly that it looks very very thin. She gassed forward and finally the board popped out. It still rides fine; there's only that bad scrape, but the trucks and wheels are still in perfect condition, somehow. But, the thing is, the deck leans a lot towards the left, when rolling, pushing, and even standing on it. I guess it's because one side of the deck is a lot more scraped than the other side. Now my roommate hates his board and never rides it anymore. I have no one else to ride with =(
He's literally going to STOP SKATING just because his board got ####ed?

By bottom, do you mean the closest bushing to your board? I'm not sure what the logic is, but I've always understood that the harder bushing goes on the bottom.
Anyone care to explain why this is? Now that I think about it I've never really thought about it.

well actually i made a typo haha. i meant to word that the other way around. my 81s are the closest to the ground the 85s are closest to the baseplates.
actually.. i just ruffed up my knees pretty good damn speed wobble.. i think it might be because of the soft bushings.. or maybe its the 50* baseplates? or maybe its just because im a newb.. anyone care to help me out? i think i was in the right stance.. bout 90% of my weight was on the front.
oh luckily i had some gloves on so my fingers are fine(for once). but i dont own any knee pads.. so my knees look pretty bad, aswell as my ankles. ill post pics for anyone whos curious to see
