    Default 2007 Big Fish

    Hi.

I'm interested in getting this year's Big Fish from Motion, but I noticed they build it differently now, completely w/o wood. Does anyone have experience with it, is it as durable as wood ? I already own a FlexDex, so I know what composite boards can handle if done right. OTOH, the Big Fish seems to be much lighter than a normal board, I am worried it might be more fragile.

It is badass. It is quickly becoming my favorite board. I weigh 180 and have the trucks set at the widest wheelbase for more flex... perfect. Setup w/Holeys and Zigs, but I ordered some Flashbacks so I can drift a little...

My only request for Motion would be that they made a 'BiggerFish' at around 50"... I need something inbetween my OSD and the BigFish...

Favorite board of my quiver. Deceptively (sp?) light, awesome flex (im 135 and ride it on the widest setting), a very VERY durable. It has the plastic rail gaurds so those inevitable nasty crashes dont damage the board as much. plus if you hold it against the sun you can see right through it! (i have mine gripped clear btw) let me know if you want pics...\

btw I have mine set up with Force r7s, powerballs

    It is a great ride.
I've been rockin' the 06 Bigfish for some time now.
I've been yellin' about how good it is for a while too.
Sold my Vanguard because the Bigfish is just better.
I bought the 07 and I like it a lot too but I like old one better.
Purely personal preference, very subtle difference.
The new one is a great board and the best carver in production at the moment that I know of.
So smooth and carvy without being mushy.
Concave is perfect. Deck length, foot room, wheelbase are perfect too.
Ride it in a 4th set of holes I drilled when I got it.
New 07 model has 4 sets standard.
Have Grizzly trucks on it and they feel great.
Been on GOS wheels and SpeedVents for it.
I am curious about the Powerballs on it.
Do they stick in hard carving?
I think they will be super smooth like the GOS but I worry they don't grip as well while carving.
    How are the Powerballs?

The '07 is a solid, durable deck.

I too sold my Vanguard after riding the Bigfish for a couple of weeks.

I run mine with Grizzlys and Gumballs.

My '06 is set up with Holeys and Powerballs - works great; never tried the GOS, but the powerballs are just flat out awesome wheels.

    Golgo-
Really?.....I thought I was the only kook who had to know which was better.
Vinz tried to tell me they were very close and not to bother but I had to find out for myself.
A buddy is riding my 07 for now.
I am about to find out if I have come up with something better. I have a Roe Cross Step being built.
Roe decks have concave this year and the size is very similar to the Bigfish only wider in the rear foot area and wheelbase is the same and length is the same and total width is very similar but the Roe has carbon fiber to make it snappy, snappy good.
We shall see soon if it can beat the Bigfish and if it does I will have a boner for a month but If it does not I will happily ride the Bigfish until my legs fall off.

I really like the looks of that Roe Cross Step, but I held off buying one since I couldn't find a review of it. My email to Roe went unanswered.

oldnbroken, what's the wait time on your new deck?

    Verr,
You, me and Golgo must be brothers !!
I have been putting it off taking the plunge for a while as well.
I asked about it on here and got a few little bits of information.
I PM'd back and forth with Paipo Jim about it a little.
His son has one but I never could get to his son to talk.
I really did not get enough information from anyone to be super stoked to buy it..
James Peters helped me out which he is always willing to do.
I did not get a response from Roe for a bit either and then Gareth got back to me and we talked.
I asked a million questions and drove him crazy for weeks.
Finally bit the bullet and ordered it after agonizing over the flex soft or flex medium decision.
At this point I have one soft and one medium coming and will decide which is the magic pill when I get them.
Gareth told me three weeks and it has been maybe a week.
I will be patient and when it gets here I will make plenty of noise about it on the fish if it turns out to be what I think it will be.
If I am wrong I will shut up for a change and keep riding the Bigfish happily.

Hmm, nobody rides it with the Motion default trucks (Crail speed trucks) ? Do you need any risers on those Holeys ?

I have been waiting for weeks to see an '07 Bigfish arrive, but to no avail. Frankly, I don't think they exist and that all you people are making it up. I'm going down to the mall to get me a board I'm sure will make me cool.

Well Mr. B,........ oh yeah they exist all right,.............. you betcha daddy-o
Maybe they have a rule that you have to already be cool or they won't send you one.
I think this bunch that got them were in the first batch Motion ran.
I also think the batches are small because when I talked to Vinz he was pressing them himself !
Great guy, great boards, cool company.
