Default Long Distance Pushing setup that can also double as a DH-lish setup

    Hey

I'm trying to fill a gap in my quiver ... 1st and most importantly I want a deck that will be good to push long distances. Something stiff-ish, low (dropped or drop-through or both), light and confortable.

2nd, I really could use a DH able board on my quiver, so I'm thinking this "pusher" can also double as a downhill setup. There are a lot of low, stiff and light boards on the DH segment of the market...

So I'm thinking of getting a "downhill" board as my long distance pusher. I have some ideas already but it would be great to hear yours too.

Thinking that this would be primarly a "long distance" board, and the DH part would be more like a bonus, I'm a little worried that the concave on most downhill decks out there would be a little too extreme and would make the ride uncomfortable after some mileage.

Also most downhill decks are really big, bulky and heavy. I don't have the money to spend on carbon or anything fancy...

Do you have any recommendations on what could get? Can I get a compromise that would allow me to enjoy "the best of both worlds"?

Also having trouble about what should be a good wheelbase to start from. Wheels also. Usually I never run anything bigger than 70-72mm wheels....But for this one I think I'm going to have to go bigger...maybe 76-85mm. Anything good out there?Confortable to soak up pavement cracks and pebbles definetely. Fast, long roll. The wheels would also be used for DH so I'm thinking Speedvents or Flyhweels. Definitely unsure about which size and duro.

    I'm 6.1. 200lbs.

Trucks...Crails will have to do it. That's what I have with me that I'm not using. Definitely DH able, I guess they won't be a problem for pushing.

Any and all ideas welcome. Thanks a lot in advance.

The Evo is a decent LDP believe it or not. I run it with the commonly reccomended truck setup (Bear 840's and 852's) and when I get above my pushing speed I can pump it up to higher speeds. Besides it being heavy its alright to push around. I am gonna see how I like my Reflex 44" for pushing at Central Park Race.

Project Speedboard is a great deck for what you want....

I've pushed mine over 70 miles in a day.. and have hit low 60mph on it

Eastside longboards makes a couple boards that fit that description.

    Eastside Longboards - Decks

The Drop and the Dropkick are both nice boards, and the Drop doesn't have that extreme of concave, but it's definately enough. Plus they aren't really that expensive. Randal 180's will work fine as trucks if you swap the stock bushings to something softer (Venoms or Reflex maybe) and Big Zigs in 80a or 77a will work great for what you want.

Check out subsonic skateboards. I have a 42" raven, I think that is what you are looking for. The barage looks nice too and has some different lenght options.

Subsonic reflex or LBL pushed or Screaming Mary look good.
I've got a Reflex 46 and it's low as hell. Great for pushing, but it is heavy.
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?
