First board: Hustler vs. Vice vs. Pug
Need some help here. I think I'm leaning more towards the Rayne Vice, but I just want to make sure I'm not making a mistake or something because I am a beginner with no experience.
Also looking at:
Decent Slice 38"
Decent Clear Blue Drop 42"
Arbor Waterman 44.25"
Arbor Fleetwood 43"
Honey Carver 40"
5'6"
145lbs
Cruising/carving/minor hills
My terrain is mostly flatland with some hills here and there

Rayne vice/pug. They make quality products, and they both look like great cruisers/all around boards!
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

Wow, those look really nice. And for a decent price too. How do they ride? Really flexy, turny, ect.

They are snappy! Great carving, mild downhill boards. They turn on a dime, with the exception of the swordfish. It has smooth carves, and plenty of dancing room, a stable board. The flex is really nice with the bamboo/fiberglass construction. They are really light as well. They will also come stock with Retro BigZigs sometime next week!

well damn! that's pretty sweet.
I can't make a judgement about BC since I just heard about em, but I'd go with Rayne from your list as well.

Ahhhggg. I just got an e-mail back from Andrew at raynelongboards.com and he said that I should go with the Hustler because it's a combo of the Vice and Pug. If not that, he said to go with the Pug. Any thoughts?

I thought it was kind of convenient how he suggested the most expensive, then the next expensive board. But I don't think he would really do that, right?

Yeah, though it sucks that I have to wait three weeks for Muir to get more Vices. Then again, on the website, it's going to be one week for the Rayne shipment..so maybe this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Re: First board: Rayne vs. Descent vs. Arbor vs. Honey
I just bought my first long board probably like a month ago... I went with an arbor cross step that is 46 inches long and 10 inches wide... it has major flex when you step on to it... I am 5'10 and weigh 145lbs... I like the flex... Ive road my friends sector 9 46 inch board and its just so stiff and it feels like im riding a 46inch regular skateboard..... I road a loaded dervish the other day around a store at mall and it felt great! but this is just my 2 cents... and im a beginning longboarder too... I do know however that as soon as i get the money im going to buy the loaded dervish and use that for tricks and hopefully learning how to slide and just using my arbor for cruisin!

Earthwing Boomerang may also fit into this mix. I suggested one to my nephew and I wish I bought one too.

There custom graphics option is really cool to, I sent them a few photos of Cabo and told them what I was wanting, They came up with 3 different designs that were very impressive! and not to mention the price is unbeatable! If someone can point me in the direction of a better deal.. I would like to see that!

If you have no idea for the design of your deck, could you throw a few ideas at them and see what they come up with?

I don't know if you've ever ridden one, but would you say the Barracuda is a good beginner board?

You should choose Honey... Unless you're annihilating hills, I wouldn't waste my money on Rayne. Honey boards are insanely nice. I've been to Mike Mahoney's workshop and he really puts everything he's got into the production of those boards. You can't go wrong with them.

Really? Hmm..yeah. I was also thinking that I shouldn't put that much money into my first board. Do you know how flexy they are and how good they pump? I read somewhere in the fourms that they're really stiff and not good for pumping.
