    Question Semi-noob lookin for advice

Hey I started longboarding for the past 3 weeks, I'm a natural at snowboarding so I got the hang of it really fast and I'm lookin for recommendation of a board purchase, set up.
    I'm 5''9 , 150 pounds, and I currently ride a standard sector 9 with seisemic trucks.
I'm looking for a good speed, cruising board with some downhill too. Something similar to my buddies Strike n' dervish. Drop through too. thanks!

Well if you want speed and DH I wouldnt suggest something like a dervish as you dont want any flex for speeds. I would suggest the Comet FSM as a good deck. It can bomb, carve, cruise and slide however it is a stiff deck. If you wanted something flexy for cruising and pop for your carves the Never Summer Heist is an excellent deck. Good length and foot space with drop throughs as well as flex with some camber ( So its not overly flexy ). Other flexy drop throughs include the Rayne hustler or the landyachtz drop-carve although I have no experience with these last two.

Trucks - Randals, crails, Paris, bears, pick your poison. All have their differences. Do a search and see what works best for you. I would always suggest Randals to a newbie has they are a good middle ground for starting. Get 50* plates. Flip them if you want more stability for speed. 40* plates if you want something less turny but more stable and lower to the ground.

wheels - Again, youll have to research as they all offer something different. But for starters I like to suggest Abec11 Retro bigzigs or zigzags. Starting in the 80a limes is always good.

Get a khiro double barrel bushing kit so you can play around with bushings to find what you like. mix and match and try different combos. I'm a similar height and weight and find 90a bottoms with 85a tops is stable at speeds and can still carve alright when the trucks are loosened. You may want to get longer king pins for this though ( 2.75" - 3" ).

Bearings - I always get Bones Redz for every set up. Awesome price and very fast. Get bearing spacers and tighten your axle nuts.
