Well the drop hammer is short and drop-through so it would most likely be decent for pushing. Not sure about a kicktail

I just got my Drophammer, there is no real kick tail. It is extended about 5" past the rear truck mounting area but not up swept so it can be used to bring the front of the board up but not as easily as a traditional kick tail.

Yeah, i have a drophammer too. It has a small flat tail. I use this board for campus, carving hills, and long dist. It's hard to find a small drop through board with a tail. I'm happy with this board. A kick tail is obviously easier to use, but this tail is still pretty functional. let me know if you have any other questions about it

Killdozer... what setup do run on ur drop hammer? just curious
I'm running 75mm big zigs and i have to make the trucks a bit tighter than I'd like b/c of wheel bite

Hey man I am running my Drop Hammer w/ Grizzly 852 trucks and 70mm Mini Monster Hawg Wheels. It was the upgraded complete option from Landyatchz. I am not happy with the Abec bearings that came in it but that is the only thing I don't like. Easy enough to swap out later on. I am thinking about Swiss ceramics. I love the Mini Monsters though. great wheels.

I have a Battle Axe, and in those pics it's got flipped 50 degree R2 180s and lime BigZigs. It does not have an effective tail, I regularly abuse the tail to wear it down because it's just weight and size(to me). I wouldn't get that board as it's not very good for anything. It's ok for garaging/DH/cruise/carve.

The tail on either of the boards is just as effective as the tail on a pintail. It works, but not too well. Nevertheless, my brother has a Drop Hammer and he loves the tail. He's always doing two wheeled checks on it. If you're going for a usable tail though, don't get a Battle Axe or a Drop Hammer.

Super/Widergliders and Superchargers have a great kicktail. Plus the new 'Chargers look sick all murdered out.

How bad is it and how tight do the trucks have to be to keep the wheel bite at bay?

It's not bad at all. You just have to aware of your footing. I mean you are not going to inadvertently just hit your wheels in a hard carve. When you get used to your footing and where you are, you will not likely hit anything. As with any board, it's got its good and bad points but the good FAR outweigh the bad. The tail is great if you have to pull a manual to get up a curb or over some larger debris. It's also great if you have to make a tight turn. It's not a trick tail for ollies though. Although I am sure there are those who can do it. I run my trucks loose on my Drop Hammer and don't have any problems. Just keep your wheels around 70mm and you will be OK. If you run really big wheels you may run into issues. I took off the 852 and Monster wheel setup I had and put them on my Spud. I am gonna get Randall R2 and some Retro Freerides or Abec11 strikers today for it. Great deck, highly recommended.

Yeah w/ 70mm you can run this board loose. I put 75 mm wheels so I had to tighten the the back truck quite a bit. I didn't feel like buying new wheels, and I know the 75mm will eventually wear down like all other wheels. The front truck is relatively loose and back truck tightened considerably more. Can still turn well enough for commuting. I have gullwing chargers on the board and it still turns well even when tho the trucks are tighter than I prefer. In my opinion, this board is best w/ 70mm wheels, but since I ride some shitty sidewalks w/ this board, I don't mind giving up turning ability for some bigger wheels

One other thing is that they say it is only cut out for Bear and Gullwing trucks, however my Paris 180s fit right in. There was a tiny, and I mean tiny bit of a tight fit, but they went right in with no cutting or modifications. Randall trucks do not fit this board.
