That sounds awesome. Can we see a pic of that custom? Any concave, and how wide?
I am seriously considering an Original, or at least the trucks, for a new deck after seeing this thread.

Oh, yeah, it's a sweet ride.. turns around a manhole cover, and that's not a figure of speech- it really will! And you gotta love a company like that.. Rodney Smith: if you know his history, then you know that there's a guy who really loves skateboarding.
So when are we gonna see an 80's style pool board from Galac? Concave is not your enemy.

Re: Original Set Ups
Oh, yeah, Rodney Smith has created a nice little empire..
I really admire him and everything he's created...
About the concave.......... It's coming...
I plan on doing some cool stuff by the early part of next year.
Concave, camber, kicktails, rocker, and channel noses, like on
some of the old 80's pool decks, liek the Magnusson Hell Channel,
which was my absolte favorite pool deck back in the day..
When i met Tony Magnusson at the G&S 50th, I was talking to
him about his old decks, and told him how much I missed
the Hell Channel, he said he still had the molds and that
they might reissue them oneday in the near future..

Man I'm thinking about getting the Yandall board that is on sale to mess around on my Original trucks.
+1 for the cool set up.

Re: Original Set Ups
Hi, I was just wondering if anybody here has seen/ordered/ridden the new custom 44? IMO the design looks nicer.

Re: Original Set Ups
Hey Barf,
I like the big board with the GBomb brackets. I have never seen a GBomb mounted over the board. I have a GBomb Illumtinati and have an interesting problem. I run a 6" Original in front and a Tracker RT-S in back. The problem is the front is lower than the back since Originals are quite short. If I remount the back bracket over the board, it should get rid of the problem.
Have you had any problems with the back bracket being mounted on top of the board?

Re: Original Set Ups
I have an older custom 35 with s8's and some sector 9 rf's. i have sanded the whole thing down and cleared it and put a pretty cool custom grip job on it. Ill post pics in a few hours when i can take em.

with that said i have three rules in life:

We also learned the merits of garage door openers. After you wisk your bike into the garage.. you call the PD and report it stolen.. oddly enough we always found them the next day.

Yeh I ink that the blue is to bright. If it had the same colours as the 34 I think it would be nicer but the new design is even nicer than the old one.

Thanks, I really love this board, and since sanding it it removed about half a ply and made it a little more flexy. I am kinda bummed I just cracked a 5 month old cam right after I posted those pics.

Re: Original Set Ups
so i was in desperate need of some smaller wheels for my pod so i went out and found some random wheels that i've never heard of and bought them lol. they are called Oj III Hot Juice....
60mm 79a. they seem alright so far, but its really easy to slide on my pod now, and its kinda scary lol, if i pump to hard i risk going into a weird stand up slide. later on today ( once i wake up ) im going to go for a lonnnng session and see if i can master these little wheels.

Yeah, I've never seen anybody else do it, although I doubt I'm really the first.. it just seems so obvious. Anyway, a various times, I have had it set up with both brackets on top, both on the bottom, and one up / one down. It doesn't really seem to change the flex much or anything like that, there's never been a major issue with it. There are a few things somebody thinking about trying it might care about:
a) Railbite/belly drag. Depends on your setup- wheel size, riser, flex, etc. Same problems you can run into with dropthrough, dropdeck, or any other kind of lowrider setup.
b) Your foot bumps into or rides on the bracket sometimes. This is only a problem if you think it is; I found that it helped to get my foot placement sorted out without looking down, just like the toe-stops the slalom guys use. Foot traction wasn't an issue when I stood on 'em, either.
c) The brackets leave little marks on the top of the deck once they've been mounted there. I don't care, but if you like your decks to look showroom fresh, then you might.
Give it a try, it's an easy way to dial your ride height (or level a deck, in your case), without messing about with risers.
.
