just go to auto zone or pep boys and get a tub or tube of wheel bearing grease, it works fine for me, but they should also have lithium just make sure not to get it in a spray can, that stuff squeaks like crazy

so i was in desperate need of some smaller wheels for my pod so i went out and found some random wheels that i've never heard of and bought them lol. they are called Oj III Hot Juice....
60mm 79a. they seem alright so far, but its really easy to slide on my pod now, and its kinda scary lol, if i pump to hard i risk going into a weird stand up slide. later on today ( once i wake up ) im going to go for a lonnnng session and see if i can master these little wheels.
oj's were some old 70's wheels, i didnt know they still made them

So jealous of this thread, I want to have a setup in here. On that note, has anyone here ever tried out the original Manahattan 27?

I bought a set of Original S8's to put on my Fat Daddy which fell through because there wasn't a spacer set up tall enough to fend off wheel bite on such a wide board so I put them on my girlfriend's Gravity Mini Hypercarve 42 and it was incredible. The trucks sent the wheels PERFECTLY into the deck's cutout's which allowed me to only run a 1/8" spacer with the middle front part cut out to clear the plate on the bottom of the trucks...

The only problem was that she didn't like how tippy the trucks were, luckily I loved them but the problem I had with them on that board was that my lanky ass has a really wide stance and when turning hard the wheels would bite on my shoes and slow me way down.

So, I got one of the full size Gravity Hypercarve decks which are 5 inches longer and it's PERFECT...

Then there was a surf shop getting rid of their longboards and they had a killer deal on a Torpedo 40 that I couldn't pass up so I snagged it and threw some Never Summer wheels on there...

I absolutely love these trucks but I have to admit that it really throws me off every time I go to one of my other boards that have standard trucks because it's just so different. I'm in the process of learning to slide and these trucks allow me to be so sloppy with how I set the board into the slide because I can basically just lean and the truck turns so much that it instantly starts sliding... It's almost like cheating! I most recently picked up a Loaded Vanguard and even with super turny Sabre bushings and flat washers, I have to consciously tell myself every time I want to slide that I can't be sloppy and just lean into it, it's strange now but I'm thinking I'll get used to going back and forth between boards eventually

Here's my Hybrid 35 it's set up with S6 trucks with a 1/8th inch riser, black springs, and 62mm wheels. This deck is great it carves hard and slides easy.

Nice I didn't know the hybrid can run on 1/8th inch riser. Nice and low.

Anyway, a various times, I have had it set up with both brackets on top, both on the bottom, and one up / one down. It doesn't really seem to change the flex much or anything like that, there's never been a major issue with it. There are a few things somebody thinking about trying it might care about:

    a) Railbite/belly drag. Depends on your setup- wheel size, riser, flex, etc. Same problems you can run into with dropthrough, dropdeck, or any other kind of lowrider setup.

    b) Your foot bumps into or rides on the bracket sometimes. This is only a problem if you think it is; I found that it helped to get my foot placement sorted out without looking down, just like the toe-stops the slalom guys use. Foot traction wasn't an issue when I stood on 'em, either.

    c) The brackets leave little marks on the top of the deck once they've been mounted there. I don't care, but if you like your decks to look showroom fresh, then you might.

Give it a try, it's an easy way to dial your ride height (or level a deck, in your case), without messing about with risers.

Thanks for the info Barf. Will try it out. I keep my back foot close to the middle of the deck so foot placement should not be a problem, and none of my decks look showroom fresh for long. Will check for wheel bite, but I run my back trucks very tight, so probably no problem.
