Does this board exist?
Harro everyone,
This summer I'm gonna be doing a lot of traveling, so I'm in the market for a board. I have a list of criteria but I just can't seem to find the right one.
Here's what I'm looking for:
- Decent Pumper
- Somewhat Flexy
- Good Carver
- Able to fit Tracker RTS/X combo
- No risers required to avoid wheelbite
- Between 30" and 35"
Any suggestions would be sweet, even better if you have personal experience with your recommendation

Re: Does this board exist?
you'll need risers for a good pumper. that or a wedged nose.

Re: Does this board exist?
The Timeline looks like a serious contender, based on what I've read so far it can do everything I need it to...
As for the risers, how much wedging would I need? I've seen that picture on pavedwave and had them set up on one deck with the thick part facing inwards. Would that be an ideal pumping combo?
As for the G-bomb...eh, I'm just not liking the look. I'll read more into it though, I've only just glanced at some pictures.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Re: Does this board exist?
I will agree with the choice of the Timeline.
Wiill fit RTX/RTS with a 70mm+ wheel and have some flex, it is known to be a good pumper and falls into the shorter deck scenario.

i use a ceviche for all of the above.

Re: Does this board exist?
Good list of criteria, but I think you will have a hard time trying to pull it off without risers, unless you go with a drop through, or run really small wheels. Excellent suggestions so far from all above, especially the Ceviche and Timeline. I had a Motion Hybrid that was amazing for all of the above, and Comet also made a board of similar shape and construction that would be perfect.
You might also consider the Rayne Hustler, or something similar, set up with a Bennet 5.0 or 6.0 in front, and an similarly sized Tracker RTS in back. Its a little longer than you specified, but its got the flex, and lack of risers/low, and pumpability (with a super pumper truck like a Bennett) you are looking for. RTS/X works great for pumping, but you would really need an extra amount of dive in your front truck from if you wanted to have enough leverage to pump the board efficiently without risers, or dropped through. I also just prefer the feel of a Bennett in the front for this type of setup, however I would never run a Bennett in the back, as I find them much to turny for a pumper, and sacrifice a ton of grip as a result, even with a huge amount of de-wedging. I have a Rayne Vice setup like this that works great.
I think the biggest things for what your looking for is gonna come from your choice of trucks/bushings/wedging. You can make most any sized deck do what you are talking about with the right combination of those three, but its gonna be hard if you sacrifice wedging/risers with most any truck or board.

Another vote for the G-Bomb. I love mine, and it's everything you said you wanted, except it's 2 inches longer measured from the tips of the brackets. The wheelbase is only 30", though. The look of the thing, maybe you'll get used to it. Mine gets a lot of comments from people, they dig it.
There's some dude (not me, not anybody I know, I'm not a shill) selling one in the classifieds right now...

Wow, nice post. Very helpful.
I guess I should clarify...instead of putting the "no risers", I should have said something like "Deck should not make me worry about wheelbite".
I think that the Hustler would be pushing my limits on size, as I'm trying to find a board that I can easily fit into my suitcase. The Timeline seems like the choice for me, since it meets all the criteria I specified.
Since I have my trucks/wedging down (Gonna go with RTS/RTX combo, and I have the wedges to experiment with on my own), that just leaves bushings. Unfortunately, I have no clue what kind of bushings are ideal for a pumping setup Any suggestions here?

Re: Does this board exist?
I'm too unfamiliar with most boards here to weigh in on em, but I'd put the ceviche before the pintail

Re: Does this board exist?
Its good to see that you are open to all considerations. Its gonna be hard to make up your mind though as their are really a ton of boards out there that could do this job. I think its gonna come down to your preferred shape around the truck mounts and overall shape, and construction. For construction, I prefer v-lam if possible, and glass or other laminate. For shape, I definately prefer a filled out shape in the front and back, rather than big wheel cutouts, which force me to stand further from the front truck than I want too and force you to take a narrow stance. I always make deep wheel wells exactly where I need them to minimize the amount of rise the board needs to avoid wheelbite.
You should also make it a point to check out some of the less talked about brands and boards. Seriously check everything from Subsonic, Scott is making some amazing boards. Check out the Future section, and the Slalom boards, specifically the: Scout 32, Lowland, and Saint. The Chris Yandall Pro model is really nice looking, and very overlooked (look for it at sk8kings.com). Not that Comet is underestimated, but they havent really been mentioned here yet. Check out the Galaxy's Sleave's, and the Ye Old Cosmic Shred 35 (this is the most similar I have found to the Motion Hybrid I had)
For bushings, you've just got to play around. I have great luck with Bones Hardcore blue bottom's, used as tops, Tracker hourglass busings, Tracker Stims, white-orange-and blue Khiro barrels, Radical blue's, Venom barrels and cones, and any of the new abec11 bushings - I would probably even start with these. Dont think you have to have one brand of bushing on a board though. Mix the hell out of it all, and keep trying until everything feels perfect between maximum lean/rebound/looseness in center/return to center/progression of resistance through a turn.
In my opinon, bushings are 90% of what gives your board life and take the most time to dial in.
