Default Main purpose of Top mounted Trucks?

What's the advantage to having Top mounted trucks besides being lower to the ground? Is it the lower center of gravity and stability?

I'm 5' 5" and my 47" Pintail with 74mm wheels kind of makes my knees tired from pushing after awhile. Will a top mounted truck work OK for a street cruiser? Thanks.

I think you are confused. Are you talking about drop thru?

You already have a top mounted setup. "Top mount" means that the deck is attached on top of the baseplate. When the deck is suspended under the baseplate it is called a "drop through."

YOUR BOARD IS TOPMOUNTED! sorry lol i like to yell...... but maybe this will help u for future reference.

having your board lower will help with pushing, and also it would reduce leverage over the truck and increase the lateral force your board receives meaning it will loose traction easier. but for you i suggest just using smaller wheels 74mm is huge for a topmount.

74mm is not huge, the fad on SF right now is to run small wheels so everyone now thinks that anything larger than 70 = not cool.

as everyone has stated before your trucks are already top mounted. drop through has slightly less leverage over the trucks and tends to be more prone to sliding.

Thanks, for the correction, Yeah, I meant Drop Through.

So, it's easier to break traction to slide. Since I use my board for cruising and pumping, I was thinking a drop through truck mounted board with taller wheels (needed for street use) would make for easier kicking given my height.

Thanks everyone, I might try a drop through setup with 76mm Gumballs.

Watch out for wheelbite when using drop-through with big wheels

if you are talking about a drop thru. they are alot easier to push, because they are lower to the ground. everyone says that they dont have as much traction, but on the ones that i have ridden as long as they have some big wheels (75mm or up) they seem to hold nicely in a fast, tight carve. Also they just feel so stable because they're so low. Most drop thrus have really big cutouts, so wheel bit isn't much of an issue cause there is no wood above the wheel for it bite catch on.
