Apex 37 vs. Dervish
I am looking for some advice on my next board. I currently have an Original Torpedo but I want a more all around board. I want to do some dancing, cruising, carving, and some sliding. I was hoping I could get some help from somebody who has ridden both. Thanks.

Re: Apex 37 vs. Dervish
there both awesome boards for all around but not the best DH boards but for cruising and all that its good.
the apex and all orginal boards with their trucks are awesome carving machines and the apex 37 is sexy and can do everything and do it well with enough flex and comfort to cruise around like it is its job.
the dervish with a pair of randalls or paris or whatever and some nice bearings and wheels will be equally as awesome and the flex on the derv is equal to the apexs
there both awesome boards and ive had the chance to ride both for a few hours each
from a amateur stand point the apex 37 was better for carving because of the trucks but they were both equal for just doing small tricks and cruising/carving

Thanks. How about dancing? I'm thinking dancing on the apex might be much harder because of the trucks.

i have heard that due to the trucks the apex is harder to dance on but with a lot of work it can still be done

Dude, get the dervish for all around (what you are looking for.) You just typed out the things that the dervish does best, and left out the things it doesn't do well. It doesn't downhill. Thats it. It is pretty decent for dancing, great for cruising, good for sliding, awesome for carving.
Apex is probably better for flat out carving, but not much and a different kind of carving feel. Both are decent for tricks, dervish is better for sliding, and better for dancing. If you have more specific questions, you should ask them.
If you want my opinion, get the dervish. You already have an original board, IMO, you should get a dervish before getting another.

derv. hands down no contest. for what you want, ESPECIALLY between those two boards, derv all the way.

yeah my friend has an apex and the trucks make it very difficult to dance. They're just too turny to get any good foot placement for dancing.

I have heard the heavier Original springs (red or white) can improve this.

Re: Apex 37 vs. Dervish
Dervish, slightly better downhill (especially with Flex 1 and DH bushings) and longer wheelbase also helps with boardwalking/stability.
Original trucks are more turny so you can say they carve better, but they feel different so the previous statement may not be true for some people.
Both awesome decks, after having ridden both I'm definitely happy i bought the dervish. I will however be buying an apex 37 definitely in the future.

Re: Apex 37 vs. Dervish
I forgot to mention: when you're boardwalking (especially crosstepping and such) every half inch of usable space makes a noticeable difference. +1more for the derv.
