Need help choosing new wheels
i new some new wheels for my Vangaurd. i do not do any sliding, unless i need to to stop. i mostly do flat land cruising and maybe alittle pumping.
i want some large wheels, because most of the roads around me suck. also i want some super grippy wheels, the wheels i have now slide if i turn to fast on them and i want to be able to hold an edge.i have some big zigs on another board and they are good, but was thinking about trying something new.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
Just to let you know when gumballs break in the surprisingly slide alot. I would go with some pink big zigs or 80a O Tangs

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
There are also the 3DM Avilas and Avalons. The Avalons aren't "big", but both have high traction. The Avilas are 75mm. They are quite heavy though.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
Try 77mm Seismic Speed Vents in 79a. Besides being completely badass in a sick blue and orange color combination, they are incredibly hard to slide.
I wouldn't say I am godly at sliding, but I can slide 77a Avilas better than the 79a Speed Vents. I highly recommend them. Although both wheels have Blue Ops Thane, I've found Speed Vents to be a lot faster on flat ground and on slopes because they are less wide. Hope this helped.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
Just found this:
The Gumballs are a big solid urethane wheel with a perfect aspect ratio. They are great for flatland cruising longboards and high speed downhill boards. Super grippy and super smooth. If you are using them on a Loaded Vanguard or street cruising setup please choose 81a durometer for the best glide.

A wise choice indeed for grippy-action.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
81a Gumballs are great wheels, my friend has a set on his 42" vanny, just make sure you're ready for the slide. At least in that duro, they aren't nearly as grippy as you'd expect them to be, in fact i just got a set of 84a's as a freeride wheel! IME, Bigzigs and Orangatangs trump gumballs for plushness and grip but once you want to slide gumballs are definatly the way to go!

White 3dm Avilas. Best pumping wheels. 77a 75mm. Won't slide, and are big. I think they satisfy your criteria.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
i currently have some landy monster hawgs on mine and they seem exactly what you are looking for. they are big. they don't slide unless intentional. and they are a great wheel

Look at some ABEC 11's maby 83mm some of the pricing on them are expensive but you'll find a good deal somewhere.make sure you pay for set of 4 wheels and not 1 or 2 wheels on some sites.

Re: Need help choosing new wheels
before you go out and get the big zigs, consider the 75mm O-tang In-Heat
ive been riding them for about a month and they are amazing
they are a little pricey but worth every penny, they ride ultra smooth and are super grippy
once you break them and wear the edge on them you can still slide to stop but they stilll remain grippy
i think theyre your best bet
